KILDIMO/PALLASKENRY.

LIMERICK SENIOR HURLERS: Congratulations to our own Kyle Hayes who was a goalscorer once again in Limerick’s victory over Cork in the first round of the Munster Hurling Championship. A late switch saw him move into the full-forward line and he showed the full range of his versatility and skills, as he cleverly finished a goal in the first half while also setting up Limerick’s other goal and adding a point later on. Congratulations also to panellist Darren O’Connell who is currently injured, and we wish him the very best in his recovery, and to Ruairí Maher and Mark Melbourne who are part of the backroom team. We’d also like to wish Kyle, Darren, Ruairí and Mark the very best of luck next week against Waterford.
FÉILE HURLING: Our U-15s took part in the Limerick Féile tournament at the weekend, always a huge weekend for underage hurling in the county and our lads shone as always! There is serious talent within this group with huge potential as they develop into the future, and this could be seen in the performances at the weekend. They opened with a fantastic victory over Newcastlewest in Pallaskenry on a 0-5 to 0-3 scoreline. They then moved on to Kildimo take on St. Kieran’s in what turned out to be an absolute cracker! There was real drama throughout and, in the end, the sides could not be separated as they finished level on a 3-2 to 1-8 scoreline! We went on to play Adare, but fell short against a very strong Adare side who grabbed a number of goals to seal victory! We were still in contention as we headed into the final fixture but came up against a Belville Gaels who would end up on top of the group, and came out victorious!
Although we didn’t make it through to the semi-finals, there were some great performances from our young players and plenty of hope for the future! Well done to all involved, a very enjoyable day of hurling!
PRIMARY GAME: Congratulations to Zach Bennis who represented the club in the Primary Game at half-time in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday! A proud day for Zach, his family and the club!
LIMERICK U-20 FOOTBALLERS: Hard luck to Garry Sheehan and the Limerick U-20 footballers who, after an excellent first half performance, were defeated by Cork in the Munster semi-final in Ballyagran on Monday evening. We are proud of the efforts of Garry and of John Chawke, who is a selector, and Kieran Barrett as kitman.
LIMERICK MINOR FOOTBALLERS: Hard luck to Shane O’Sullivan and Ethan Browne, who started as corner-backs for the Limerick minor footballers against Tipperary, and to Tiernan Meaney and Conor McMahon who were part of the matchday panel. It was a good performance from the Limerick minor footballers but they fell just short against a strong Tipperary side, but have matches against Clare and Waterford still to come over the next two Thursday evenings.
LIMERICK U-20 HURLERS: The very best of luck to Davy Fitzgerald and the Limerick U-20 hurlers as they take on Cork on Wednesday evening. They have already booked a place in the semi-final but this fixture will decide who they play.
LIMERICK U-14 HURLING: Congratulations to Shane Carroll who was named as part of the Limerick U-14 hurling academy panel for 2022! A great achievement for Shane, and we’d like to wish the team the very best for the year!

We also have representation on the management team in the form of Peter Nash & Chris Sexton. Best of luck to all involved!

CLUB DEVELOPMENT: Well done to our Development Committee, whose hard work paid off when they secured €54,474 in a grant from Sports Capital Ireland for our Ballwall & Astro project. Concrete footings have been poured in Pallaskenry in preparation for this; we hope that the wall will be installed in time for St. Patrick’s Day! However, we still need to raise approximately €20,000 in order to complete the project with floodlighting, footpaths & security. Anybody who would like to support this initiative can do so via our Appreciation Wall & Signage program. Contact any committee member for details.
