Junior A Football:
Well done to our Junior A Footballers who had an excellent win over Ballybricken in horrendous weather conditions in the championship on Friday evening in Meanus. A really good start from the lads had us pick up 2 early points before a fantastic goal from Conor O’Grady gave us a good lead before a Ballybricken goal brought them back into the game. Conor then pounced for a 2nd goal after a mix up in the Ballybricken defence before an outstanding solo goal from Mickey Bob Ryan gave us a 3.04 to 1.02 lead at the break. At the early stage of the 2nd half a few lapses in concentration left Ballybricken in for 2 goals and with the lads under a lot of pressure midway through the half they eventually steadied the ship. A mistake from a kick out lead to Keith O Connor expertly finishing to the net to wrap up the game. Some outstanding performances from the lads at the back set the platform for the win & the returning Dylan O Connor chipped in with 2 great points during the game. Best wishes to Thomas Ryan who is returning to Scotland to continue his studies & had a super game. With 3 teams finishing on 8 points and walkovers in the group we are waiting from clarification from County Board to determine whether we end up in quarter or semi final. Team: Aaron Murphy, John Riordan, Peter Sheeran, Thomas Ryan, Oisín O Grady, Mark Deegan, Ross Winship, Darragh O Suillivan, Michael Whelan, Killian Real, Harry Fox, Mickey Bob Ryan, Keith O Connor, Joe Fogarty, Conor O’Grady. Subs Used: Dylan O Connor, Andrew Kearns, Darragh Sullivan, Paddy Bermingham & Josh Sheehy.
