HOSPITAL / HERBERTSTOWN GAA CLUB NOTES:

Fixtures this week
Intermediate Hurling League HH (2-14) Kilmallock (2-18)
We played our first match of the year June 15 in the league away to Kilmallock. Missing a few lads through injury we were very competitive in the 1st half leading 1.08 to 0.08 at halftime with Oisín O’Grady scoring the goal. Unfortunately Dylan O’Connor went off with a shoulder injury midway through the half.
A terrible start to the 2nd half meant we were down by 10pts but rallied back with 2 fantastic lineballs from Mickey Bob Ryan & a Niall Carmody goal. Unfortunately we lost Aaron Murphy & Mike O’Néill to injuries which were huge blows. Kilmallock ran out 2.18 to 2.14 winners but considering the injuries a really good performance.

County intermediate hurling HH (4-12) Bruree (4-18). Our depleted Intermediate hurlers lined out in the 2nd round of the league against a strong Bruree team in hospital last Saturday . Due to injuries the club had to use a lot of Junior B players including club stalwart Paudie Reale, all of whom gave a great account of themselves. We were level just on halftime but 2 sucker punch of goals left us 3.10 to 1.10 down at the break. The lads battled hard but lost out by 4.18 to 4.12. A hat trick of goals from Dylan O Connor including a top corner cracker was a joy to watch. The lads deserve huge credit for the performance in a cracking game. A lot of positives from tonight & hopefully the injuries will clear up in the coming weeks
