Dromcollogher/Broadford after suffering a heavy 8-15 to 1-4 defeat at the hands of Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale in the opening round got their County Minor B Hurling Championship campaign back on track with a deserved three point victory over gallant Granagh/Ballingarry in ideal conditions at Dromcollogher on Sunday evening to go level on top of Group 2 on 2 points with Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale to stay in contention for a quarter final spot and Granagh/Ballingarry pointless at the bottom must be defeated must defeat Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale on this Friday August 21st in the final group stage game in Ballingarry at 7pm to qualify for the knockout stages. The Dromcollogher/Broadford officials had their pitch in top class condition for this round two minor tie between two sporting sides with John McGrath of Monagea in charge.
The home side playing into the roadside goals dominated the opening eleven minutes with a trio of white flags courtesy of Kenny Lynch (free), Darragh Reidy (play) and Kennny Lynch (play) before a pair of white flags from a placed ball by Granagh/Ballingarry’s No. 11 Michael Russell on 13 and 15 minutes to leave it 0-3 to 0-2 in favour of Dromcollogher/Broadford at the end of the first quarter. Having had and a water break the play got underway, again a couple of wides were exchanged before a pair of white flags by Brian Ahern from open play on 18 minutes and Cillian Cahill from a 65 three minutes later extended the Dromcollogher/Broadford boys’ advantage to three, 0-5 to 0-2, on 21 minutes. Then Dromcollogher hit a trio of wides before points were traded by Michael Russell of Granagh/Ballingarry from a placed ball on 26 minutes and Kenny Lynch from open play three minutes later, to send the home side Dromcollogher/Broadford in at the interval still three ahead 0-6 to 0-3. Darragh Casey and Darragh Reidy traded white flags in the opening four minutes after the interval before a long range placed ball by Dromcollogher/Broadford’s No. 11 Cillian Cahill was finished past Paudie Murphy in the Granagh/Ballingarry goal by Robert McCarthy on 36 minutes to leave the home side six ahead 1-7 to 0-4. The Granagh/Ballingarry boys, far from being over awed, scored three points in the next nine minutes courtesy of Darragh Casey, one from a placed ball and two from open play, to reduce the deficit to three at the end of the third quarter. At the second water break the score read 1-7 to 0-7 in favour of the home side Dromcollogher/Broadford. When play got under way again a couple of wides were exchanged before a pair of white flags for the Dromcollogher/Broadford boys through Leon Madigan from open play on 48 minutes and Cillian Cahill from a placed ball two minutes later to extend the home side’s advantage to five, 1-9 to 0-7 on 50 minutes. The Granagh/Ballingarry boys, far from being over awed, scored three points in the next eight minutes through Michael Russell, and Paudie Murphy from open play and Darragh Casey from a placed ball to reduce the deficit to two, 1-9 to 0-10, with two minutes of normal time remaining on the clock. A couple of wides were exchanged before Dromcollogher/Broadford’s No. 11 Cillian Cahill s0plilt the uprights from a placed ball on 30 minutes to leave the home side three points 1-190 to 0-10 winners of the two league championship points on offer to join Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale on top of Group 2 in the County Minor B Hurling on two points to stay in contention for a quarter final spot, while Granagh/Ballingarry are pointless at the bottom of the group, must be defeat Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale in the final group stage game on this Friday 21st August in Ballingarry at 7pm to qualify for the knock-out stages. Dromcollogher/Broadford scored 1-6 from play, 0-3 from frees and 0-1 from a 65, Granagh/Ballingarry scored 0-5 from play and 0-5 from frees.

WEST JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Group 1 Round 2
Granagh/Ballingarry travel to Pairc Uí Luing, Feenagh, on Tuesday 25th August to play the home side Feenagh/Kilmeedy in Round 2 of Group 1 in the West Junior B Football Championship at 7pm. A tough game is expected for the boys in black and green against the favourites for this year’s West and County Junior B Football Championship title fielding a number of players with senior experience playing with Dromcollogher/Broadford for three seasons.

CHEQUE PRESENTATION TO PIETA HOUSE
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA club will make a cheque presentation of 1,600 the proceeds of the Jim (twins) Lynch Memorial Cup hurling tournament final played on Sunday 5th July in Ballingarry between Granagh/Ballingarry and Feenagh/Kilmeedy to representatives of Pieta House on Thursday 27th August in Granagh Community Centre at 8pm. Your support for this event night would be appreciated and light refreshments will be served.
COUNTY MINOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Granagh/Ballingarry open their County Minor B Football Championship on Friday 28th August. They play Mungret St. Paul’s B team in Ballingarry at 70pm. The championship is being run on an all-county basis this year from the divisions and fourteen have intimated they will take part. There are two groups of four and two groups of three with the top two teams in each group to qualify for the quarter finals
Group 1: Belville Gaels Monagea, Granagh/Ballingarry, Mungret St. Pauls (B team).
Group 2: Knockaderry, Kildimo/Pallaskenry, Caherconlish, Athea.
Group 3: Shannon Gaels, Ahane, Banogue.
Group 4: Rathkeale, Ballybricken/Bohermore, St. Senans. A tight match is expected in Ballingarry on Tuesday 28th August with hopefully a full Granagh/Ballingarry side.
