County U20B Hurling Championship Group 3 Round 2
Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom 2-17 Pallasgreen 0-6
Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom had to give a walk-over to Belville Gaels (Feohanagh/Castlemahon/Feenagh/Kilmeedy) in the opening game got their Limerick County U20B Hurling Championship Group 3 campaign back on track with a comfortable 2-17 to 0-6 victory over gallant Pallasgreen in difficult wet and windy conditions under lights at UL North Campus pitch on Saturday night to go joint second in Group 3 on two points with neighbours Croagh/Kilfinny two behind Belville Gaels to stay in contention for a semi final spot.
A good crowd turned out to watch this championship tie despite the wet and windy conditions played on an excellent pitch with Tom McGlinchey of Newport, Tipperary in charge. The Granagh/Ballingarery/Croom boys with the wind at their backs raised a trio of unanswered white flags in the opening six minute through Jack Daly from a placed ball and Shane O’Brien and Tom Horgan from open play. A couple of wides were exchanged before Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom’s No 9 Jack Daly raised a pair of white flags from a 65 on 9 minutes and a placed ball three minutes later to leave it 0-5 to 0-0 in favour of Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom on 13 minutes.
Then Conor O’Dwyer finally opened the Pallasgreen boys’ account when he split the uprights from a placed ball on 14 minutes cancelled out a minute later from open play by Jack Daly to leave five between the sides Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom 0-6, Pallasgreen 0-1 at the end of the first quarter. The Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom boys dominated the second quarter with a trio of white flags courtesy of Jack Daly from placed balls on 17 and 20 minutes and open play on 22 minutes before Seán Gorman finished past the Pallasgreen keeper Zach Murphy Ryan on 25 minutes followed by a pair of white flags by Eoin Horgan on 28 and 30 minutes to send Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom in at the interval leading by 13, 1-11 to 0-1. Jack Daly and Pádraig Phelan traded white flags from open play in the opening six minutes after the interval before a trio of white flags from open play for Granagh/Ballingarry courtesy of Luke Murphy on 39 minutes, Seán Óg Cahill Hayes on 41 minutes, Seán O’Gorman on 43 minutes before Luke Murphy finished past Pallasgreen keeper Zach Murphy Ryan two minutes later to leave it 2-15 to 0-2 in favour of Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom at the end of the third quarter. The Pallasgreen boys far from being overawed had a pair of white flags through Evan McCarthy on 47 and Conor O’Dwyer two minutes later to reduce the deficit to 17, Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom 2-15, Pallasgreen 0-4 on 50 minutes. Then white flags were traded by Jack Daly (play) on 52 minutes and Conor O’Dwyer (play) on 55 minutes, Jan McMahon (play) on 57 minutes and Jack Daly (free) on 60 minutes to bring his tally for the game to 0-11 (5 frees 1 65). At the final whistle Granagh/Ballingarry were comfortable 17 point 2-17 to 0-6 winners to go joint second of Group 3 in the Limerick County U20B Hurling Championship two behind Belville Gaels to stay in contention for a quarter final spot, Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom scored 2-11 from play 0-5 from frees and 0-1 from a 65, Pallasgreen scored 0-5 from play and 0-1 from a free.

There was no winner of the €12,700 jackpot in the Granagh-Ballingarry GAA Club Lottery held on Saturday 15th November in Condron’s Bar, Ballingarry. The numbers drawn were 13, 17, 20 and 25. The lucky dips of €20 went to Patsy Power, promoter online; Michael Ahern, Fergal Noonan, promoter Stephen Stapleton; Dan Donegan, promoter Buckley’s Bar, Ballingarry.
The next draw will be held on Saturday 22nd November in Condron’s Bar, Ballingarry for a jackpot of 12,800. Tickets are 2 each or three for 5 and are on sale in local shops, bars and from promoters. County U20B Football Championship Opener:
Ballingarry or Croom is the venue on this Saturday 22nd November at 2pm for the meeting of Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom and South Liberties/Crecora Manister in the opening round of Group 4 in the Limerick County U20B Football Championship which is being run on an all-county basis on a league system and 16 teams have indicated that they will take part. There are four groups of four with the top two teams in each group to qualify for the county quarter final.
Group 1 Hospital/Herbertstown, Ballybrown, Galbally.
Group 2 Killacolla Gaels, Ballybricken/Bohermore/Fedamore, Cappamore and St. Patrick’s.
Group 3 St. Senan’s, Newcastlewest, Ballybrown, Galbally.
Group 4 Belville Gaels, Granagh/Ballingarry/Croom Pallasgreen and South Liberties/Crecora Manister.
