After the sides had finished level 0-18 too 0-18 after a 60 minute plus thrilling contest in difficult, wet conditions Granagh-Ballingarry went on to win in a dramatic 14 penalty shoot out 5-4 to claim the Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup for the sixth year in a row in front of a good crowd, who gave great support to their sides of Ballingarry on Friday evening.
The 6th Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup Final was a thrilling, hard fought 36 score contest played on an excellent pitch in difficult wet conditions with Mikey Browne of Dromcollogher-Broadford in charge. Holders Granagh-Ballingarry made all the early running with a pair of white flags by Jack Hartnett and Eoin Lynch in the opening three minutes cancelled out by Diarmuid Coleman from placed balls for 0-2 each a on 6 minutes. Then white flags were traded by Damien O’Donovan free on 7 minutes and Tomas Galvin play on 9 minutes, Diarmuid Coleman free on 12 minutes and Damian O’Donovan free three minutes later to leave the sides level for the third time at 0-4 each at the end of the first quarter. The Feenagh-Kilmeedy boys dominated the next 6 minutes with a trio of unanswered white flags courtesy of Diarmuid Coleman free on 16 minutes, Maurice Fitzgibbon play on 19 minutes and Tomas Galvin play on 21 minutes before white flats were traded by Damian O’Donovan free on 22 minutes and Maurice Fitzgibbon play a minute later to leave three between the sides, Feenagh-Kilmeedy 0-8, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-5 on 23 minutes. The home side hit back with a trio of white flags courtesy of Damien O’Donovan free on 25 minutes, Tom Horgan play on 26 minutes, keeper Denis O’Connor free on 28 minutes before Feenagh-Kilmeedy No. 13 Gerry Donegan split the uprights following a good solo run on 30 minutes to send the 2024 County Premier Junior A hurling champions Feenagh-Kilmeedy in at the interval leading by one , 0-9 to 0-8. Diarmuid Coleman from open play and Damien O’Donovan from a 65 traded white flags in the opening three minutes after the interval before a pair of white flags from open play for the visitors courtesy Gary Donegan on 35 minutes and Diarmuid Coleman on 36 minutes were cancelled out by Damien O’Donovan from placed balls on 37 and 39 minutes to leave one again between the sides, Feenagh-Kilmeedy 0-12, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-11. Wides were exchanged before a pair of white flags, Jack Cagney on 41 minutes and Damian O’Donovan on 42 minutes split the uprights from open play for the boys in black and green before Tomas Galvin landed his third point from open play for the Feenagh-Kilmeedy boys to leave the sies level for the 6th time at 0-13 each 43 minutes into this thrilling memorial cup final. A pair of white flags for Granagh-Ballingarry from placed ball courtesy of Damian O’Donovan 44 and 45 minutes were cancelled out by Diarmuid Coleman from a placed ball on 47 minutes and Tomas Galvin from open play three minutes later to level for the seventh time at 0-15 each on 50 minutes. The final 10 minutes plus were very exciting with play passing from end to end and white flats traded by Diarmuid Coleman play on 51 minutes and Jack Cagney play on 53 minutes, Maurice Fitzgibbon play on 55 minutes and Jack Cagney play on 57 minutes, Jack Hartnett play on 59 minutes and Diarmuid Coleman free on 30 minutes to leave the sides level for the 10th time at 0-18 each at the final whistle after a thrilling contest played in difficult wet conditions. On the agreement of both team management the destination of the 2025 Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup to be decided by a penalty shoot out, won 5-4 by the Granagh-Ballingarry boys courtesy of Tom Horgan who finished past Feenagh-Kilmeedy keeper Michael Bergin after a dramatic 14 shoot out to claim their sixth successive Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup Intermediate Hurling Tournament title. Both sides must be complimented on a thrilling 36 score contest played in such difficult wet conditions and a dramatic 14 penalty shoot out. Granagh-Ballingarry scored 0-8 from play, 0-9 from frees and 0-1 from a 65. Feenagh-Kilmeedy scored 0-11 from play, 0-8 from frees.

After the game Granagh-Ballingarry Secretary/PRO John Lynch congratulated Granagh-Ballingarry on winning the Memorial Cup for the 6th year in a row. He praised Feenagh-Kilmeedy for their part in a thrilling final, despite short a number of key players and wished both teams the best of luck in the County Intermediate Hurling Championship. He complimented referee Mikey Browne and his officials Paddy Hennessy and company for having everything in top class order; Claire and Louise Enright for taking photos; Andrew Holmes and Jim Roche for their help with the bucket collection. John then presented the Memorial Cup to winning captain Damien O’Donovan to the joy of the Granagh-Ballingarry supporters. Damian thanked the Lynch family for presenting the Cup to the club. He thanked the team management and referee Mikey Browne and his officials. He complimented Feenagh-Kilmeedy and gave them three cheers.
Man of the Match:
The Man of the Match aware was presented to Tomas Galvin of Feenagh-Kilmeedy who finished with a personal tally of 0-4 from open play.
Donations to Field Development Fund:

Hard luck to the Limerick senior hurlers whose brave bid to win their seventh Munster Senior Hurling Championship title in a row were dashed when going under to Cork 3-2 after a dramatic penalty shoot out after the sides had finished level, Limerick 2-27, Cork 1-30 in front of 43,580 supporters at Pairc na nGael on Saturday. This win sees Cork win their 55th Munster Senior Hurling Championship title, a first since 2018. It is not the endo f the road for Limerick, who now play Joe McDonagh Cup champions Kildare or Dublin in the All Ireland Senior Hurling Champions in the quarter final on Saturday 21st or Sunday 22nd June with the winners to qualify for an All Ireland semi-final meeting with Leinster champions Kilkenny on Sunday 6th in Croke Park.

Fr. Caseys Abbeyfeale recorded a hard fought 3 point, 2-18 to 3-1 victory over a gallant very much under strength Granagh-Ballingarry side in the semi-final of the West Junior A Football Cup competition in difficult wet and windy conditions at Sean Finns Rathkeale on Saturday evening to qualify for a final meeting with Glin or St. Kieran’s on this Saturday 14th June, time and venue to be confirmed. The Rathkeale officials had their pitch in top class condition for this cup competition semi-final played in front of a small crowd with Joe Mulcahy of Killeedy in charge. The Fr. Caseys Abbeyfeale boys with the wind at their back dominated the opening 60 minutes, 30 minutes and inspired by their No. 11 Jamie O’Connor with 1-11 led at the interval by 15 points, 1-14 to 1-2 with the Granagh-Ballingarry boys green flag raised by Jack Hartnett when DJ Stack raised the Fr. Caseys Abbeyfeale boys second green flag 13 minutes into the second to put the blue and whites fourteen ahead, 2-16 to 1-5. It looked like this semi-final was over as a contest, Granagh-Ballingarry far from being overawed had a pair of green flags by Jack McMahon and Jack Cagney followed by a pointer from a free by Cagney to reduce the deficit to five, 2-16 to 3-8 on 50 minutes. Then Darren Keane increased the Abbeyfeale boys’ advantage to six, when he slit the uprights on 53 minutes before Jack Cagney from a placed ball on 55 minutes and Eoin Lynch from open play, two minutes later raised a white flag for Granagh-Ballingarry to close the gap to four, Fr. Casey’s 2-17, Granagh/Ballingarry 3-10 on 57 minutes. Jamie O’Connor split the uprights for Fr. Casey’s to extend their advantage to five on 59 minutes to bring his tally for the game to 1-12. Then Jack Cagney landed a two pointer from open play for the Granagh/Ballingarry boys to close the gap to three which was too little too late for the boys in black and green as Joe Mulcahy sounded the final whistle from the kick-out to leave the Fr. Casey’s, Abbeyfeale boys three points 2-18 to 3-12 winners to qualify for a meeting with Athea or St. Kieran’s in the final of the West Junior A Football Cup competition on this Saturday 14th June, venue at time to be confirmed. Fr. Casey’s Abbeyfeale scored 2-13 from play which included (4×2 pointers) and 0-5 from frees which included (1×2 pointer), Granagh/Ballingarry scored 3-9 from play which included (3×2 pointers) and 0-3 from frees.
