Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup Final in aid of New Field Development on Friday:
All roads lead to Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club grounds in Ballingarry this Friday 6th June at 7.30pm for the mouth-watering clash of six-in-a-row seeking Granagh Ballingarry and great rival neighbours 2024 County Premier Junior A Hurling Champions, Feenagh Kilmeedy in the final of the sixth annual Granagh Ballingarry Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup Intermediate Hurling Tournament Final. With all proceeds of a bucket collection going to the new Granagh Ballingharry Field Development Fund, Friday’s Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup Final will be the sixth in the competition since Granagh Ballingarry defeated the Feenagh Kilmeedy boys 0-20 to 1-12 in the inaugural final on Sunday 5th July 2020.

Since that Memorial Cup final both sides have gone on to enjoy county success with Granagh Ballingarry, wining the County Intermediate Hurling Championship in 2023 defeating Croagh Kilfinny in the final and Feenagh Kilmeedy the County Premier Junior A Hurling Championship in 2024, defeating St. Patrick’s in the final. The late Jim (Twin) Lynch had a life long association with the GAA and the Granagh Ballingarry Club and was at the time of his sudden passing on Tuesday 28th May 2019, assistant secretary of the West Limerick GAA Board.

Hearty congratulations to manager Jimmy Lee, Newcastle West and all involved with the Limerick senior footballers on their dramatic one point, 0-19 to 0-18, victory over gallant Westmeath to record their third straight win in Group 3 of the Tailteann Cup at O’Moore Park, Portlaoise on Saturday to finish top of the group on six points to secure a home quarter final spot in a couple of weeks time, while the Westmeath boys, second on 4 points, now go into a preliminary quarter final this weekend.

Hard luck to our own Donal O’Grady, manager and all involved with the Limerick minor hurlers whose brave bid to reach the All Ireland Minor Hurling Championship semi final ended in disappointment when going under to Waterford by two points 1-18 to 1-14 at Semple Stadium, Thurles on Sunday. Waterford now advance to play Leinster’s Kilkenny in the All Ireland semi final. It was a great honour for our club to have Donal as manager of the Limerick minor hurlers this season.
Limerick Bid for Historic Seventh Munster Title in a Row on Saturday:
The best of luck to the Limerick Senior hurlers, manager John Kiely, captain Cian Lynch, our own Darragh O’Grady (stats) and the rest of the management team who play neighbours and Division 1 League Champions Cork, aiming to complete the first ever seven-in-a-row Munster Senior Hurling Championship titles on this Saturday 7th June in Páirc nan Gael at 6pm. Limerick will be contesting their 53rd Final and aiming for their 26th title and seven-in-a-row. Cork will be contesting their 85th final and seeking their 55th title and a first since 2018. It will be the 138th final in the competition since Cork won the first one in 1888, receiving a walkover from Clare and only the second to be played on a Saturday since Waterford defeated Cork 1-19 to 1-16 after extra time in the 2010 replay final in Semple Stadium, Thurles on Saturday 17th July. Your support for the boys in green and white and the management would be appreciated at Páirc nan Gael on Saturday for the 6pm throw in.
Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final Tickets:
Granagh Ballingarry received a total of 188 tickets for Saturday’s Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final, Limerick v Cork in Páirc nan Gael at 6pm. The following club members received tickets, officers of Senior and Bord na nOg Club and team management, club and county draw promoters, lottery/finance and field committee, first aid officers. The remaining tickets were drawn between paid up members of the club draw. All winners of tickets should now have received their links to purchase tickets. Thank you to all club members for their co-operation to implement the sale of tickets satisfactorily and hopefully there will be a big Granagh Ballingarry support on the day.

Ballingarry National School Crowned West Div 1 Hurling Champions:
Hearty congratulations to Ballingarry National School’s 5th and 6th class team, coached by Donagh McCarthy on winning the West Primary Schools Division 1 Hurling title on Friday in Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club grounds. After powering through all three group games, the Ballingarry boys went head-to-head with Mahoonagh in the West Division 1 Primary Schools Final and came out victorious after a thrilling contest.
This was no easy feat and we are beyond proud of each and everyone of the players and all involved. The best of luck to the team as they now go forward to represent the West Division in the Limerick County Primary Schools Finals on Wednesday 11th June.
Club House Update:
Sanding of the upstairs floors officially started during the week as part of the Community Centre Investment Fund grant, which the club was delighted to receive. New windows are also on order and once they’re in the new kitchen installation will follow shortly after.
Note: The upstairs area of the Clubhouse will be off limits for the next week while the floors are sanded, stained and finished with three coats of lacquer before a final buffing. We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to improve our clubhouse space.
