Holders Granagh-Ballingarry after suffering a second round 3-12 to 1-13defeat to neighbours Knockaderry got their West Limerick Group 1 Junior B Hurling League campaign back on track with a deserved hard found five point 1-16 to 1-11 victory over Adare under lights in Adare on Monday evening.
This West Limerick Junior B hurling league group 1 round 3 tie, a rematch of last year’s West Junior B hurling championship final, was played in ideal conditions on an excellent pitch in front of a good crowd, who gave great support to their sides with Daid Burke of Na Piarsaigh in charge.
The opening 15 minutes were close and exciting with white flags traded by Gearoid Lynch free and Michael Keating play, Liam Dunne free and Gearoid Lynch free, Liam Dunne play and Eoin Herlihy play, Jack Mulqueen play and James Keating for 0-4 each at the end of the first quarter. Both sides were guilty of inaccuracy before Brian McNamara finished past Granagh-Ballingarry keeper Keith O’Kelly to leave the home side three ahead, 1-4 to 0-4 on 20 minutes. Eon Herlihy from open play on 23 minutes and Jack Mulqueen from a placed ball on 24 minutes raised white flags for Granagh-Ballingarry to reduce the deficit to the minimum before points were traded from placed balls by Liam Dunne on 25 minutes and Owen Lynch 2 minutes later to leave one again between the sides, Adare 1-6, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-7 on 27minutes. The home side finished this well contested opening half strong with a trio of white flags from open play in as many minutes courtesy of Michael Keating, Brian McNamara and Sean O’Donoghue to send the boys in red and black in at the interval leading by four, 1-8 to 1-7. Liam Dunne from open play and Jack Mulqueen from a placed ball traded white flags in the opening 2 minutes after the interval before four unanswered white flags for the visitors in a 10 minutes spell courtesy of Owen Lynch 2 frees, Jack Mulqueen 65 and Jack Hartnett play to leave the sides level for the fifth time in this exciting contest, Adare 1-9, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-12 on 42 minutes. White flags were traded from open play by Calum Hourigan on 43 minutes and Pat Carroll on 44 minutes, Eoin Herlihy on 45 minutes and Liam Dunne two minutes later to leave the score for the 7th time Adare 1-11, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-14 on 47 minutes. The Granagh-Ballingarry boys now began to up their game to dominate the next 8 minutes with an Eoin Herlihy green flag on 48 minutes and followed upby white flags from placed balls courtesy of Owen Lynch on 50 minutes and Jack Mulqueen five minutes later to push the visitors five ahead, 1-16 to 1-11 on 55 minutes. Both sides failed to add to their total before David Burke sounded the final whistle to leave holders Granagh-Ballingarry deserved five point 1-16 to 1-11 winners to get their West Junior B Hurling League Group 1 campaign back on track after going under to neighbours Adare last time out and can now look forward with confidence to the next round against neighbours Croagh-Kilfinny in a couple of weeks time. Granagh-Ballingarry scored 1-6 from play, 0-9 from frees and 0-1 from a 65. Adare scored 1-9 from play and 0-2 from frees. Cork eased to a Munster Senior football championship semi-final meeting with holders Kerry in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday 11th April at 7pm with a comfortable 11 point 0-24 to 0-13 victory over gallant Limerick at Pairc na nGael on Saturday evening. Limerick now compete in the Tailteann Cup.

Waterford made it back to back wins in the Munster Minor hurling championship with a deserved 9 point, 1-20 to 0-14 victory over Limerick at Fraher Field, Dungarvan on Friday evening to top of the table on 4 points, two ahead of Cork and Clare, while the Treaty boys are pointless at the bottom with Tipperary, who they play in the next round on Friday 18th April in Semple Stadium, Thurles at 7pm.

Adare forced to give a walkover to neighbours Croagh-Kilfinny in the opening round got their West Senior Hurling League/Championship campaign back on track with a deserved seven point, 0-21 to 1-11 victory over gallant Granagh-Ballingarry at Ballingarry on Saturday evening. The boys in black and green who created a number of goal scoring chances in the second half but could only convert one by Paudie Murphy, which cost them at the finish. They will now have to regroup ahead of their next outing, where they will face another stiff task against joint table toppers with Croagh-Kilfinny on four points 2024 County Premier Intermediate hurling champions Newcastle West on Tuesday 15th Aprilin Ballingarry at 7pm. Ballingarry is the venue on this Saturday 12th April at 5pm for the meeting of the home side Granagh-Ballingarry and Ballybrown in round 4 of group 1 in the City-East-West Junior A Football League, so come and support the boys in black and green in this the first game played in Ballingarry under the new Gaelic football rules.

The closing date for membership of Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club for 2025 was Monday 31st March. A word of thanks to all who have paid. Those who paid their club draw €100 subscriptions in full are automatically members for 2025.

10th Team Limerick Clean Up:
The 10th edition of the longest one day clean up in Ireland, Team Limerick Clean Up (TLC) is set to take place on Good Friday 18th April across Limerick City and County. Founders of the Team Limerick Clean Up initiative JP McManus, Paul O’Connell and Helen O’Connell are urging volunteers to sign up early at www.teamlimerick/cleanup.ieand help make this the best TLC yet. This year’s participants in TLC10 are encouraged to bring a friend and involved any new neighbours in the community to come along and join in making Limerick a cleaner and more environmentally friendly county. The popular tea and coffee gathering after the clean up will also be held in locations throughout the city and county. There was no winner of the €9,500 jackpot in the Granagh/Ballingarry GAA club lottery held on Saturday 5th April in Buckley’s Bar, Ballingarry. The numbers drawn were 1, 4, 13 and 27.
