2024 Success Celebrated in Style in Dinny A’s Bar:
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA club celebrated their achievements in 2024 on and off the field on Saturday night in Dinny’s Bar, Ballingarry with medal presentations to their successful back-to-back West Junior B Hurling League/Championship team.
Those who graced the presentation function with their presence over the years were again very much in evidence and there were also some new people. MC for the night Neill Dunworth welcomed everyone especially the invited guest West Board chairperson Breda Breen, manager and Count Board vice chairperson Frank Reidy of Feohanagh/Castlemahon.
The honour of presenting the 2024 West Junior B Hurling League and Championship medals were accorded to our own 6 times All Ireland wheelchair medal winner with Munster Hurling/Camogie Club Maurice Noonan and All Ireland Junior Hurling inter-firm medal winner with Limerick Garda in 2024 Denis O’Connor. Special presentations were also made to the Junior B hurling management of Niall Carroll, Mick Chawke, Bernie Kelly, Andrew Holmes, Mikey O’Keeffe, first aid officials Niamh and Anne Marie O’Keeffe, Intermediate Hurling Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup winning team management Michael Clancy Stephen Stapleton and Eoin Kennedy, Maurice Noonan in recognition of winning his sixth All Ireland wheelchair medal with Munster Hurling/Camogie Club in 2024, Denis O’Connor winning All Ireland Junior hurling inter-firm medal with Limerick Garda, Donal O’Gradyu coach/selector and Darragh O’Grady stats, Limerick Munster 6-in-a-row senior hurling championship winning team, Intermediate Hurler of the Year Darragh Casey, joint Junior B Hurler of the Year Keith O’Kelly and Donal O’Grady, Junior A Footballer of the Year David Clancy, West Junior B Hurling Championship Final 2024 Man of the Match award Gearóid Lynch, Club Person of the Year David Clancy, Jimmy Chawke for his service as MC for all events held by the club in 2024. Junior Footballers Kick Off Playing Season on Sunday:
The honour of starting the playing season for Granagh/Ballingarry goes to the Edward Sheehy managed Junior footballers who flex their muscles against Monaleen in the opening round of Group 2 in the inaugural City East West Junior A Football League on this Sunday 9th March in Ballingarry at 3pm.
Twelve teams have entered the Inaugural City East West Junior A Football League, Feenagh/Kilmeedy, Feohanagh/Castlemahon, Monagea, Athea, Fr. Casey’s and Mountcollins in Group 1, Ahane, St. Kierans, Monaleen, Ballybrown, Granagh/Ballingarry and Monaleen in Group 2 with the top two teams in each group to qualify for the semi finals. Top team in Group v second team in Group 2 and top team in Group 2 v second team in Group 1. An exciting game is in prospect under the new Gaelic football rules, so come out and support the boys in black and green and their player/manager Edward Sheehy this Sunday 9th March in Ballingarry at 3pm in their bid to make a winning start to their East City West Junior A Football League campaign.

The Limerick County Senior Scór question time final (team of 4) will be held at Mungret St. Paul’s GAA clubhouse tomorrow Thursday 6th March at 7.30pm and Granagh/Ballingarry GAA club will be represented by Stephen Jimmy Chawke, Seamus Twomey and Pat Herlihy. County Senior Scór Stage Finals:
The Limerick County Senior Scór stage competition finals are on this Friday 7th March in Askeaton Community Hall at 7.30pm, Granagh/Ballingarry will be represented by Johnny O’Riordan in solo singing and by Christian Connell and Johnny O’Riordan in instrumental music.

130 players present at Bord na nÓg Presentation Night:
130 players were present at a most enjoyable Granagh/Ballingarry Bord nan Óg registration and awards presentations on Friday night in the community hall in Ballingarry. MC Seamus Twomey welcomed everyone especially the players, their coaches, parents and club officials. Presentations were made to all panels of players from U6 to U16 in hurling and football club service awards were presented to Billy O’Connor, Granagh and Davy Clifford, Ballingarry. Special presentations were made to Declan Dunworth and Nathan Hartnett Limerick U14 hurling academy panel, Adam Mulqueen, Mackey hurling primary game v Cork 2024, Daniel O’Grady U15 Academy and Daniel Hartigan Mackey Cup hurling team.
Our Bord na nÓg committee especially chairperson Cormac McCarthy, secretary Seamus Twomey, assistant secretary Eddie O’Brien, PRO Charlotte Hanley and children’s officer Trish Clancy deserve great credit for the way the function was organised. Thank you to Seamus Twomey who did an excellent job as MC; John Carroll, Niall Carroll, David Condron and Eddie O’Brien for their help with the purchase of the gear and registration; the ladies for the tea and goodies served, Charlotte Hanley for taking photos and John Joe Carmody and all Ballingarry Community Hall committee and everyone who helped in any way to make the night so enjoyable.

Well done to manager Jimmy Lee, Newcastlewest and all involved with the Limerick senior footballers who recorded their third successive win in Division 4 of the National Football League with a comfortable 10 point, 2-21 to 3-8, victory over gallant Tipperary under lights at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale on Saturday night. This result sees the Treaty County go second on the table on 7 points, 1 behind Wexford and 1 ahead of Wicklow who they play in Round 6 on Sunday 16th March in Echelon Park, Aughrim at 2pm.

All Ireland champions Clare recorded their first win in Division 1A of the National Hurling League with a hard fought 3 point 1-21 to 0-21 victory over gallant Limerick in front of a big crowd played in dry cold conditions at Páirc na nGael on Sunday. Limerick are now fifth on the table on 3 points with 2 games in hand. The Treaty boys’ next outing is against second placed on 6 points Galway on this Saturday 8th March in Páirc na nGael at 7.30pm. Club Membership 2025:
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA club membership fees for 2025 are fixed at €100 to include membership of the club draw. Bord na nÓg players €40 (€90 maximum for two or more players). No family membership. Players to register online to pay fees through foireannatgaa.ie as per official guide before training and playing season commence to be covered by insurance.
2025 County GAA Club Draw:
Granagh-Ballingarry GAA club are once more promoting the Limerick County Club Draw. There will be monthly draws from March to December with a top prize of €10,000. There are a host of other prizes to be won, 2nd €3,000, 3rd €2,000, 4th €1,000, 5th executive star prize, 6th to 9th €500; 10th to 13th €300; 14th to 30th €200.

2025 GAA National Club Draw:
Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club are promoting the 2025 National Club Draw. There is no financial cost to the club to get involved as the cost of tickets and prizes are covered by the Central Council. In addition to maintaining the proceeds for all tickets sold by the club, any club who sells a minimum of 200 tickets automatically gets into a draw for €1,000, a prize won by Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club in March 2024. Prizes include 1st €50,000, 2nd €20,000, 3rd €10,000. Other prizes include All Ireland Final tickets and overnight package, €2,500 voucher plus a number of other cost prizes. Tickets are currently on sale in local shops/bars and from promoters.

There was no winner of the €9,100 jackpot in the Granagh-Ballingarry GAA Club lottery jackpot held in Dinny As Bar, Ballingarry. The numbers drawn were 15, 17, 30 and 32.
