Granagh Ballingarry Dinner Dance:
Presentation Dinner Dance on Friday Night
All roads lead to the Longcourt House Hotel, Newcastle West this Friday night March 1st at 7.30pm sharp for a night of nostalgia, celebration and craic at the Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club 2023. Intermediate and junior B hurling medal presentation dinner dance players and supporters will be celebrating the achievements of the past year as well as looking forward to the 2024 season. We will know the many acclaimed and outstanding double success of our intermediate hurlers who bridged an 18 year when defeating neighbours Croagh Kilfinny by two points 0-18 to 1-13 in a thrilling county intermediate hurling championship final played in front of a record crowd at Paddy Carroll Park, Ballyagran on Sunday 29th October. Winning the Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup for the fourth year in a row and reached the West senior hurling league/championship semi final where they went under to eventual winners Adare. The Junior B Hurlers who also enjoyed a very successful season winning 15 and drew 1 of the 17 games achieving a west and county junior B league double, Diny Cup Tournament and West and Junior B championship before suffering their first defeat of the season when going under to defeat finalists Ballybrown by three points 2-18 to 3-12 in a thrilling county championship quarter final.
The following 47 Intermediates and Junior Hurlers will receive a total of 84 medals by special guest of honour Limerick All-Ireland Senior Hurling medals Pat Ryan (Doon) and David Condron Intermediate Hurling Captain John Carroll Junior B Hurling captain Pat Carroll, Junior B hurling Dinny A Cup captain. Donal O’Grady coach/selector Limerick All-Ireland four in a row 2020-21-22-23. Senior hurling champions county intermediates hurling championship final 2023 man of the match award. Club person of the year award. The final presentation of the night will be made to Jimmy Chawke in recognition of his dedicated service as MC for all clubs’ events in 2023.
The MC will be Jimmy Chawke and there should be a good attendance from the parish for their night of celebration. Door opens at 6.30pm, dinner at 7.30pm sharp. Music will be provided by Free Beer followed by a disco. 161 Players Present at Bord nan Óg Presentation Night:
161 players were present at the most enjoyable Granagh Ballingarry Bord nan Óg registration and awards presentation night last Sunday night in the Community Hall, Granagh. MC Jimmy Chawke welcomed everyone especially the players, their coaches, parents and club officials. Presentations of medals were made to all panels of players from Under 5 upwards. Training tips tops to Thomas Twomey, Sean O’Gorman, Ian Sheehy, Darragh O’Shea, Jack McMahon, Tom Hourigan, Rory Lynch, Paul Griffin, Den Daly, Killian O’Keeffe, and Jack Ahern who are leaving Bord nan Óg for their dedication to Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club over the years club service awards were presented to Johnny Sheahan, Granagh and Paddy Hennessy, Ballingarry. Special presentation was made to Adam Mulqueen who played on the West Primary schools’ football team Eoin Kiely and Nathan Hartnett Limerick primary schools team Danny O’Grady the Limerick U14 Hurling Tony Forrestal team. To Stephen Stapleton for his huge contribution made to our clubs as Bord na nÓg chairperson over the past six years 2018-2023 and for overseeing child welfare since 2022 in the most diligent and hand-on way possible and to Seamus Murphy for his service as Bord na nÓg PRO 2022-2023. Our Bord na n Óg committee especially chairperson Cormac McCarthy, secretary Seamus Twomey, assistant secretary Eddie O’Brien PRO Charlotte Hanley and children’s officer Trish Clancy deserve great credit for the way the function was organised. Thank you to Jimmy Chawke who did an excellent job as MC John Carroll, Niall Carroll and David Condron for their held with the purchase of the gear and registrations, the ladies for the tea and goodies served, Charlotte Hanley for taking photos and Joe Power and all in the Granagh Community Centre and everyone and everyone who helped in anyway to make the night so enjoyable.

National Hurling League Division 1 Group B Round 3:
Limerick 3-30 Dublin 1-18
Hearty congratulations to four-in-a-row All-Ireland Senior Hurling champions Limerick manager John Kiely our own Donal O’Grady coach/selector and the rest of the management team on their comfortable 3-30 to 1-18 victory over gallant Dublin to secure their third straight brase of points in Division 1 of group B in the National Hurling League at Croke Park on Saturday to go Joint top of the table on six points with Tipperary who they play in round 4 in a top of the table clash on Saturday 9th in Pairc na n Gael at 7.30pm

Fourth Win for Westmeath:

Westmeath 0-14 Limerick 1-8
Westmeath took their fourth straight brase of points in Division 4 of the National Football League with a hard fought three point 0-14 to 1-8 victory over gallant Limerick at Cusack Park, Mullingar on Sunday to go joint top of the table on eight points with Down. The Limerick boys will have to regroup ahead of their next outing on this Saturday 2nd March in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale at 2pm, where a win is a must against the Clare boys to avoid the drop to division 4 for 2025.

2024 Club Lottery Draw:
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA Club are promoting the 2024 National Club Draw. There is no financial cost to the club to get involved as all cost of tickets and prizes are covered by central council. In addition to maintaining the proceeds for all tickets sold by the club, any club who sells a minimum of 200 tickets automatically gets into a draw for €1,000.

Club Membership 2024:
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA Club membership fees for 2024 are fixed at €100 to include membership of club draw. Bord na nÓg players €40 (€90 maximum for two or more players), no family membership. Players to register online to pay fees through Foireann@gaa.ie as per official guide.

2024 County GAA Club Draw:
Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club are one more promoting the Limerick County Club draw. There will be monthly draws from march to December with a top prize of €10,000. There are a host of other prizes to be won, 2nd €3,000, 3rd €2,000, 4th €1,000, 5th executive star prize, 6th to 9th €500, 10th to 13th €250, 14th to 30th €100. There will be again exclusive monthly prizes to be won. Granagh/Ballingarry had 117 members in 2023 and three winners Claire Herlihy €3,000 in August, Niamh O’Keeffe and Brian Burke €300 each in September and Joanne Kelly €200 in December. To qualify for these draws a club must abide by the following terms and conditions: sell a minimum of 200 tickets, record all sold tickets on the online ticketing system, account for all funds raised through the draw separately in the club accounts, adhere to all terms and conditions of the draw which are outlined on the back of the tickets. €10 per ticket.
Prizes will include: 1st All new Dacia Sendero car, 2nd 10,000 cash, 3rd/4th prizes All Ireland Hurling and Football Final package 2024. The complete package for two includes premium tickets for the All Ireland Hurling and Football Final, overnight accommodation in the Croke Park Hotel on both weekends and dinner for two included, 5th/7th All Ireland Football Final including overnight accommodation for two nights (Saturday and Sunday) in the Croke Park Hotel and dinner for two on the Saturday evening. 8th/10th All Ireland Football Final including overnight accommodation for two nights (Saturday and Sunday in the Croke Park Hotel) and dinner for two on the Saturday evening. Tickets are €10 and will go on sale in the coming weeks in local shops, bars and from promoters.

Hearty congratulations to the boys from Christ the Saviour NS, Ballingarry who were crowned west indoor hurling champions at Newcastlewest on Friday. The best of luck to the boys in the county final on Friday 15th March in Caherconlish.

€3,800 jackpot on Saturday:
There was no winner of the €3,700 jackpot in the Granagh/Ballingarry GAA Club lottery on Saturday 24th February in Dinny A’s Bar, Ballingarry. The numbers drawn were 4, 8, 18 and 21. The Limerick County Senior Scór Finals is on Friday 22nd March at 7pm in Pallasgreen Community Hall. Granagh-Ballingarry will be represented in solo singing by Johnny O’Riordan. The question time finals (team of 4) will be held at Mungret-St. Paul’s GAA Clubhouse on Thursday 21st March at 8.30pm and hopefully the club will be once more represented by Stephen Stapleton, Jimmy Chawke, Seamus Twomey and Pat Herlihy.
