Niall, Edward and Paddy Appointed:
Niall Fitzgerald was confirmed as the new Granagh-Ballingarry club treasurer Edward Sheehy, Interim Junior A player manager and Paddy Hennessy, field and clubhouse caretaker at a very successful and workman-like February special general meeting of Granagh-Ballingarry GAA Club at Ballingarry Clubhouse on Friday night.
The meeting was presided over by vice chairperson David Clancy who welcomed everyone. Present were vice chairperson David Clancy, secretary/PRO John Lynch, Bord na nOg secretary Seamus Twomey, John Joe Carmody, Niall Carroll and Niall Fitzgerald.
Apologies were received from chairperson Andrew Holmes, outgoing treasurer Adrian Farragher, Stephen Stapleton, Eddie O’Brien, David Condron and Paddy Hennessy.
Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting of 19th January were taken as read and Seamus Twomey and Niall Fitzgerald proposed their adoption.
Treasurer
The secretary read an email received from outgoing treasurer Adrian Farragher, which informed the meeting that he wished to step down for good reason. All present paid tribute to Adrian for his contribution made to the club over the past five years and his generous offer of support to the incoming treasurer.
New Treasurer
Niall Fitzgerald elected, proposed by Niall Carroll and Seamus Twomey. All present wished Niall the best of luck in his new position.

Club survey form emailed to club officers.
9th Team Limerick Clean-Up on Good Friday 29th March.
Club chairperson to register the club to participate.
La na gClub on Easter Monday 1st April. Bord na nOg to hold fun events on the day.
Junior B Hurling Manager to be confirmed, vice chairperson to talk to outgoing manager.
Junior A Football Manager Edward Sheehy elected Interim Player Manager proposed by John Joe Carmody and Niall Fitzgerald. Players to show their support to Edward on his new role.
Minor Hurling and Football Review nine players attended players meeting. Further meeting to be held in early March.
Covid 19 Grant Clarification €2,697.38 part refund of public liability insurance as club facilities were not in use during Covid 19.
Public Liability Insurance sister clubs camogie/ladies football to pay their share towards the public liability insurance bill for 2024.
New Training Field Update Deposit payment of €4,500 to be paid to Sportsworld Netting for goalposts and nets.
Club Draw first draw to be held on Easter Monday. All names to be in by Wednesday 27th March.
County Club Draw launch on Tuesday 20th February in the Woodlands House Hotel, Adare at 7.30pm. First draw on Saturday 30th March.
National Club Draw 150 out of 200 tickets sold. All sold tickets to be returned online on March 8th. The draw will take place on Friday March 29th in Croke Park.
Bord na nOg Registration/Awards Night is on Sunday 25th February in Granagh Community Centre at 6pm.
County League/Championship Draws the secretary informed of the groupings and dates for the 2024 Hurling and Football Championship and Leagues.
Presentation Dinner Dance The presentation dinner dance will be held on Friday 1st March in the Longcourt Hotel, Newcastle West. Dinner at 7.30pm sharp. Tickets cost 50, 120 sold. There will be 48 players receiving a total of 84 medals. MC Jimmy Chawke.
Membership Fees for 2024 are fixed at €100 to include membership of club draw. Bord na nOg players €40 (€70 maximum for two or more players) no family membership players to register online to pay fees through Foireann at gaa.ie
Request All team managers and players to inform the secretary of any upcoming weddings, stags, etc., which may clash with hurling and football league and championship fixtures.
Scór County Final on Friday 22nd March at 7pm in Pallasgreen Community Hall. Granagh-Ballingarry will be represented by Johnny O’Riordan. The question time finals (team of 4) will be held at Mungret St. Paul’s GAA Clubhouse on Thursday 21st March at 8.30pm and hopefully the club will be once more represented by Stephen Stapleton, Jimmy Chawke, Seamus Twomey and Pat Herlihy.
Regradings Five players regraded from Intermediate hurling to Junior B hurling.
Transfers Kieran O’Donovan, Granagh-Ballingarry to Melbourne Shamrocks; Brendan Lynch, Granagh-Ballingarry to Michael Cusacks Sydney; Timmy Houlihan, Adare to Granagh-Ballingarry; Kieran and Brendan were wished the best of luck with their new clubs in sunny Australia and welcome Limerick Munster and All Ireland U-21 hurling winning captain to the club.
Permission to play Eoin Ryan, Kilmallock permission to play Junior A football with Granagh-Ballingarry as Kilmallock are not fielding an adult football team.
Field and Clubhouse Caretaker Paddy Hennessy appointed, proposed by Seamus Twomey and Niall Fitzgerald.
Match Tickets All Munster Championship matches in 2024 will again be all ticket and must be purchased in advance via Ticketmaster and selected SuperValu and Centra outlets. The secretary informed that tickets for the Limerick v Clare game in the opening round of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship on Sunday 21st April in Cusack Park, Ennis, will be limited.
Sympathy was extended to Liam Darcy, Knockfierna, the Stapleton family, Granagh and Sheahan family, Croom, on the death of Betty Darcy (nee Sheahan); to Seamus and Aileen Murphy and family, Granagh, and the Corcoran family, Lattin, Co. Tipperary, on the death of Denis (Dinny) Corcoran, Deerpark, Shronell, Lattin; and to the Mahony family, Croom, on the death of Stephen (Stiofán) Moloney, Anhid, Croom.

Sligo took their second brace of points in Division 3 of the National Football League with a deserved five-point 1-12 to 0-10 victory over gallant Sligo at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale on Sunday. This third straight defeat sees the Shannonsiders rooted to the bottom the Division 3 table pointless with Wicklow and Offaly. The Limerick boys will have to regroup ahead of their next outgoing on this Sunday 25th February against Westmeath in Cusack Park, Mullingar at 2pm. Your support would be appreciated.
Nation Hurling League Division 1 Group B Round 3:
We wish the best of luck to manager John Kiely, our own Luke Flynn and David O’Grady, coach/selector and the rest of the management team as 4-in-a-row All Ireland Senior hurling champions. Limerick aim for a hat-trick of wins in Group B of Division 1 in the National Hurling League when they travel to Croke Park on this Sunday 24th February to play Dublin at 5.15pm. Please support.
2024 GAA National Club Draw:
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA Club are promoting the 2024 National Club Draw. There is no financial cost to the club to get involved as all cost of tickets and prizes are covered by central council. In addition to maintaining the proceeds for all tickets sold by the club, any club who sells a minimum of 200 tickets automatically gets into a draw for €1,000.
Main Draw:

Club Specific Draw:
A draw will take place whereby three clubs will receive €5,000. Another draw will take place whereby one club in each county will receive €1,000. The club with the highest ticket sales in each province will receive €1,000. To qualify for these draws a club must abide by the following terms and conditions: sell a minimum of 200 tickets, record all sold tickets on the online ticketing system, account for all funds raised through the draw separately in the club accounts, adhere to all terms and conditions of the draw which are outlined on the back of the tickets. €10 per ticket.
Prizes will include: 1st All new Dacia Sendero car, 2nd 10,000 cash, 3rd/4th prizes All Ireland Hurling and Football Final package 2024.
