West and County Junior B Hurling League champions and last year’s defeated finalists Granagh-Ballingarry recorded their third straight win in Group 1 of the West Junior B Hurling Championship with a comfortable 9 point, 1-17 to 0-11 victory over gallant Adare in difficult windy conditions at Croagh on Saturday evening, to finish top of the group on 6 points to qualify for a quarter final meeting with Group 2 second placed team this Friday 1st September in Pairc Caoimh Uí Luing, Feenagh at 6.30pm. Adare play top team in Group 2 also on Friday evening in Croagh at 6.30pm.
The Croagh-Kilfinny officials had their pitch in top class conditions for this final Group 1 West Junior B Hurling Championship clash played in front of a small crowd with Donie Neville of the local club in charge. Granagh-Ballingarry with the wind at their back had white flags through Owen Lynch from a placed ball and John O’Grady from open play in the opening 3 minutes before white flags were traded from open play by Cian Sparling on 4 minutes and John O’Grady a minute later to leave it 0-1 to 0-3 in favour of Granagh-Ballingarry on 5 minutes. Granagh-Ballingarry dominated the next six minutes with four unanswered white flags courtesy of Eoin Horgan play,, Owen Lynch, free, Eoin Lynch and Eoin Horgan play before points were traded from open play by Padraig Heffernan on 12 minutes and Pat Carroll, three minutes later to leave the Granagh-Ballingarry boys six ahead, 0-8 to 0-2 at the end of the third quarter. The first and only green flag of the game arrived on 16 minutes when Granagh-Ballingarry No. 11 Eoin Lynch cut through the Adare defence to finish past the Adare keeper before points were traded by Tim Murphy from open play on 17 minutes and Owen Lynch from a placed ball a minute later to leave the boys in black and green nine ahead 1-9 to 0-3 on 18 minutes. A couple of wides were exchanged before a trio of white flags for Granagh-Ballingarry from open play courtesy of Eoin Lynch on 20 minutes, Owen Lynch on 22 minutes and Eoin Lynch on 25 minutes before points were traded by Cian Sparling from open play on 26 minutes and Owen Lynch from a placed ball a minute later to leave Granagh-Ballingarry 12 ahead, 1-13 to 0-4 on 27 minutes. Then Granagh-Ballingarry extended their advantage to 14 courtesy of white flags from open play by John O’Grady on 28 minutes and Pat Carroll on 29 minutes before Cian Sparling raised his third white flag from open play on 30 minutes to close the gap to 13, Granagh-Ballingarry 1-15, Adare 0-5 at the interval.
Adare with the wind at their backs hit a number of wides in the opening 7 minutes of the second half before Granagh-Ballingarry No. 14 John O’Grady finally found the range when he split the uprights from a placed ball on 38 minutes cancelled o9ut a minute later from another placed ball by Frank Costelloe to leave 13 again between the sides, Granagh-Ballingarry 1-16, Adare 0-6 on 39 minutes. Both sides failed to add to their total in the difficult windy conditions in the next five minutes before John O’Grady found the range when he split the uprights for the second time from a placed ball to extend the Granagh-Ballingarry boys’ advantage to 14, 1-17 to 0-6 at the end of the third quarter. The Adare boys with the wind at their backs failed to be overawed with 5 unanswered white flags in the final quarter through Rory O’Connor free, Cian Sparling 2 play to bring his tally for the game to 0-5, Joey Shire free and Padraig Heffernan play to reduce the deficit to nine, which was too little too late for the boys in red and black. At the final whistle Granagh-Ballingarry were worthy nine point, 1-17 to 0-11 winners of their third straight brace of points in Group 2 of the West Junior B Hurling Championship to finish top of the group on 6 points to qualify for a quarter final meeting with group 2 second placed team Killeedy on Sunday 3rd September in Quaid Park, Coolyroe at 6pm while Adare second on 4 points play top group 2 team Newcastle West.

Goals from John O’Gorman and Ruairi O’Connor in the 6th and 8th minutes of the first half paved the way for a fourth straight win for last year’s defeated finalists Feenagh-Kilmeedy in group 2 of the Limerick County Premier Junior A Football Championship with a deserved seven point, 2-11 to 0-9 victory over a very much under-strength Granagh-Ballingarry in ideal conditions at Quaid Park, Coolyroe on Thursday evening to go top of the league championship table on 8 points, two behind Newcastle West, who they play in the next round for a semi-final spot, while Granagh-Ballingarry in fourth spot on 3 points, two behind Cappagh have made their exit, play Cappamore in the final round.
The Feohanagh-Castlemahon officials had their pitch in top class condition for this round 4 County Premier Junior A Football Championship tie played in front a good crowd with Joe Mulcahy of Killeedy in charge. The Feenagh-Kilmeedy boys, wit the wind at their backs dominated the opening 11 minutes with 1-3 from open play through John O’Gorman and Ronan O’Connor with a point each followed by a John O’Gorman green flag and a Diarmuid Colman white flag. Both sides were guilty of inaccuracies before Jack Cagney finally opened the Granagh-Ballingarry boys’ account when he split the uprights following a good solo run to reduce the deficit to 5, Feenagh-Kilmeedy 1-3, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-1 on 17 minutes. A couple of wides were exchanged before Ruairi O’Connor raised the Feenagh-Kilmeedy boys’ second green flag on 20 minutes and white flags were traded by Ronan O’Connor from open play on 22 minutes and Keith Kelly from a placed ball two minutes later to leave 8 between the sides, Feenagh-Kilmeedy 2-4, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-2 on 24 minutes. The next score did not arrive for 6 minutes when Granagh-Ballingarry No. 24 Keith O’Kelly split the uprights for the second time from a placed ball on 30 minutes to leave 7 between the sides, Feenagh-Kilmeedy 2-4, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-3 at the interval.
The opening 5 minutes after the interval; were close fought with white flags traded from open play by Denis O’Connor and substitute Colm Ryan and Jack Cagney to leave the Feenagh-Kilmeedy boys still 7 ahead, 2-6 to 0-5 on 35 minutes. Then Eoin Casey from open play on 7 minutes and Cathal O’Keeffe from a placed ball on 9 minutes won points back for Granagh-Ballingarry before white flags were traded from open play by John O’Gorman on 11 minutes and Cathal O’Keeffe three minutes later, to leave five between the sides Feenagh-Kilmeedy 2-7, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-8 at the end of the third quarter. County Intermediate Hurling Championship Group 2 Round 3
All roads lead to Pairc Caoimh Ui Luing, Feenagh tomorrow Thursday 31st August at 6.45pm for the eagerly-awaited clash of Granagh-Ballingarry and neighbours Croom in round 3 of group 2 in the Limerick County Intermediate Hurling Championship. Tremendous support is anticipated for both clubs as the Croom boys bids to reverse last year’s heavy quarter-final defeat to the boys in black and green at Croagh on Saturday 15th October, and are aiming to get their championship campaign back on track after suffering back to back defeats to St. Kieran’s 2-15 to 0-145 and Knockainey 1-19 to 0-10 while the Granagh-Ballingarry boys are top of the table on four points after impressive back to back wins over Knockainey 1-26 to 1-13 and Feohanagh-Castlemahon last time out 3-21 to 0-8. Limerick GAA Club Championship Streaming Data and Plans for 2023
Limerick GAA have announced various new streaming packages for the 2023 club hurling and football championship season. The packages in partnership with StreamSport will bring all the live action from around the county to your TV tablet or mobile device whether at home or away with a guaranteed minimum 30 matches across hurling and football. You can watch for as little as €3 per game with the early bird season pass option. Limerick GAA has also added a €20 discount for the first 150 customers who purchase a season ticket. The pricing structure is a single game pass €10, season pass €110 (€3.66 per game) early pass €88 (€2.93 per game). West Junior B Hurling Championship Quarter Final
Páirc Caoimh Uí Luing, Feenagh is the venue this Friday 1st September at 6.30pm for the meeting of West and County Junior B Hurling League winners and last year’s defeated finalists Granagh/Ballingary and Killeedy in the West Junior B Hurling Championship League winners Granagh/Ballingarry finished top of Group 1 on six points with three straight wins over Monagea, Askeaton and Adare and Killeedy joint top of Group 2 on three points after they drew with Newcastlewest and defeated neighbours Tournafulla last time out. An exciting game is in prospect in Feenagh on this Friday at 6.45pm and your support would be welcome to cheer on the boys in black and green and their management team in their bid to book a semi final meeting with holders Knockaderry or Feenagh/Kilmeedy.

There was no winner of €1,000 jackpot in the Granagh/Ballingarry GAA Club lottery draw on Saturday August 26th in the Rock Bar, Granagh. The numbers drawn were 14, 6,10, 32.
