Club Life President Appointed
On Thursday night the 9th of September Dave McCarthy was appointed Life President of the Club in a presentation that fittingly happened after a match in the field that he was instrumental in making it the Field it is today. Its not only the field that Dave has left his mark on with tireless work on multiple hurling teams and committees that have helped the club flourish into the great club it is today. Dave has always drove the community element of the club and it is only fitting that this title was bestowed upon Dave.
Defibrillator installation
Glenroe have started the process of installing a defibrillator on the club ground. This is due to commence in the next coming weeks.

Glenroe Premier Intermediates just fall short against Newcastle West
Glenroe 0-16 Newcastle West 0-17
Glenroe just fell short against Newcastle West in Rathkeale on Friday the 10th of September. Newcastle West started the game with a high intensity and Glenroe took a bit of time to get to grips with that. The hard hitting and accurate shooting from Newcastle West gave them the lead going into the first water break with the scores Glenroe 0-04 to NCW 0-6. The heated atmosphere in Rathkeale was beginning to show on the field with a lot of tough tackles going in. Glenroe were still struggling to get into the game while Newcastle West were going from strength to strength extending their lead going into the break. The half time score was Glenroe 0-7 Newcastle West 0-11. Glenroe came out in the second half with more urgency about their game and tried to bring the physicality that Newcastle West were bringing to the game, they pulled the lead back to two points. The scores going into the last quarter of the game were Glenroe 0-12 Newcastle West 0-14. Glenroe kept of pushing until the end with a few frees going over and working hard to get the scores level but however they could not find an equaliser despite pushing hard. Final Score Glenroe 0-16 Newcastle West 0-17. Newcastle West managed to hang on and inflict defeat to Glenroe who now face a game against Dromin/Athlacca in a winner takes all game with the winner going through to the Semi-Final on Sunday.

Glenroe Junior B’s lose narrowly in first Championship game
Glenroe 2-8 Knockainey 2-11
Glenroe Junior B’s despite a late comeback could not turnaround their encounter with Knockainey on Thursday the 9th of September. Glenroe were second best for much of the first half and Knockainey asserted this by scoring two long range goals. Glenroe tried to just stay in the game and a goal by Maurice O’Brien keep them close. The scores at half time were Glenroe 1-05 Knockainey 2-06. Glenroe pushed in the second half and tried to pull back the deficit, but it looked like it was only going to end in defeat until Cillian O’Brien got a goal to give Glenroe hope and cut the lead down to three points. However, Knockainey had enough to earn the win with the final score Glenroe 2-08 to Knockainey 2-11.
