Glenroe Premier Intermediates get off to a winning start after a thrilling win
Glenroe 1-15 Bruff 1-14
Glenroe won a thrilling game against Bruff on Friday in Killmallock. The game did not get off to the best start for Glenroe as Bruff got an early scrappy goal which gave them the lead going into the first water break. The scores were 1-04 to 0-03 with Bruff in the lead. Bruff kept pilling on the pressure Glenroe needed something to keep them in touching distance. That came in the form of Eoin O’ Mahony scoring a fantastic goal to give Glenroe that jolt that they needed. The scores at half time were 1-10 Bruff to 1-05 to Glenroe. The second half Glenroe were struggling to pull in Bruff until the end of the half when they started to get on top with some substitutions making a big difference and a couple of frees and scores from play from Shaun Moloney and Mark O’Connell. The lead was down to three points going into the last water break. Bruff 1-12 to Glenroe 1-09. The last fifteen minutes Glenroe needed something special to get a win and they did exactly that they outscored Bruff by 4 points in the last quarter with some inspirational scores from captain Stephen Walsh and Brian O’ Connell putting Glenroe in the ascendency. Some heroic defending and the winning score from Mark O’Connell gave Glenroe a stunning victory to give them the perfect start to the championship.
