FIELD DEVELOPMENT PLANS
Glenroe GAA Development Project
New AstroTurf for Glenroe GAA
We have received an amazing €143,000 from Sports Capital and a further €70,000 from Tomar Trust to get our Project underway. We must now commence a massive fundraising campaign to raise in excess of €100,000. A number of events will be organised in 2022/2023 to ensure we reach our target. To commence our fundraising activities We are asking you to consider sponsoring a square of AstroTurf at a cost of €250. This square of AstroTurf can be sponsored by an individual or a family. We also ask that if you do wish to support our campaign that you do so through the Tax Relief Scheme. All what this will imply for you is the filling out of a form but the financial gains for our development project will be huge. Should you require any further information or have any questions and/or queries do not hesitate to contact a member of our Fundraising Committee (contact details attached). Forms for Tax Relief Scheme available from the club or any member of the fundraising committee. These forms were also distributed at our Launch Night in the Firgrove on Saturday last April 30th. You can also donate online through Swoofee on the Glenroe Social Media Pages. Construction on this project is starting next week on this project, so any donations at this time would be greatly appreciated. Remember you can pay the €250 in instalments or any amount that is feasible to you personally. Everything will be greatly appreciated.
Glenroe Junior B’s retain their South Junior B league crown
Glenroe put on an excellent display against Castletown/Ballyagran in Knocklong on the 9th of July. Glenroe played with the wind in the first half and this showed with the quick start that Glenroe had to the game with two quick goals from Shane O’ Donoghue and Maurice O’Brien along with great long range scores from Bob Frewen and Shaun Moloney gave Glenroe a commanding lead in the first 15 mins of the half leading 2-4 to 0-1. Glenroe kept the pressure knowing that they would need a commanding lead going into the second half against the wind, Bob Frewen’s long range free went directly in for a goal and another goal just on the stroke of half time by Ger Leahy made it a very productive first half. Half time score was Glenroe 4-7 Castletown/Ballyagran 0-3. Castletown/Ballyagran came out fighting in the second half outscoring Glenroe 1-3 to 0-3 at the start of the half. Glenroe came roaring back with another goal by Maurice O’ Brien that put the game to be bed. Glenroe’s defence stood strong all day with Patrick Holian having a very strong day at the office in the full back line. Maurice O’Brien got Glenroe’s last score of the game with a fine solo goal to put the icing on the cake. The final score was Glenroe 6-14 Castletown/Ballyagran 3-8. This is a great achievement for the team and the management to retain their title and they will hope to carry their form into the county league and the championship coming up.
