FIELD DEVELOPMENT PLANS
Glenroe GAA Development Project
New AstroTurf for Glenroe GAA
We thank everyone who has donated so far to our amazing project of the astroturf field that is now up and running. We have received an amazing €143,000 from Sports Capital and a further €70,000 from Tomar Trust to get our Project. We ask people who haven’t yet contributed if you can support this great project. We recently held a family fun day which showcased what a brilliant facility we have, there will be a number more events that will be organised in 2022/2023 to ensure we reach our target. We are asking you to consider sponsoring a square of AstroTurf at a cost of €250. This square of AstroTurf can be sponsored by an individual or a family. We also ask that if you do wish to support our campaign that you do so through the Tax Relief Scheme. All what this will imply for you is the filling out of a form but the financial gains for our development project will be huge. Should you require any further information or have any questions and/or queries do not hesitate to contact a member of our Fundraising Committee (contact details attached). Forms for Tax Relief Scheme available from the club or any member of the fundraising committee. You can also donate online through Swoofee on the Glenroe Social Media Pages.
Glenroe U21’s make it two from two away from home against Claughan
Glenroe kept their good form going on Sunday against Claughan in Claughan. This was a tightly fought contest where Glenroe had to be on the top of their game and Claughan started the better but Glenroe stayed close with some scores from Cillean O’Brien, Shane O’Donoghue and Liam Dennehy. After 20 minutes Claughan scored a goal which put some pressure on Glenroe but they replied immediately with a goal from Cillean O’Brien and another by Liam Dennehy from a penalty to keep Glenroe within touching distance going into to the half-time break but Glenroe knew they needed to up it in the second half to beat this very good Claughan team. Half time scores Glenroe 2-6 to Claughan 1-12. Glenroe came out in the second half like a new team blitzing Claughan in the first 10 minutes of the half scoring 6 unanswered points from Liam Dennehy, Darren Frewen and Shane O’Donoghue. This turned the game for Glenroe and then they asserted their lead with another 1-1 being added with the goal from Zach McCarthy. The defence kept a talented Claughan team to a minimum in this half with only 3 points being conceded and Glenroe finished the game off with another 1-1 by Liam Dennehy adding another goal to his tally and a Darren Frewen free to finish the game. The Final score was Glenroe 4-14 Claughan 1-15.
Team: Brian Howard, Keelan Riordan, Patrick Holian, Callum McNamara, Danny Hayes, Shaun Moloney, Thomas McDonnell, Cillean O’Brien (1-2), Shane O’Donoghue (0-2), Killian Meade, Liam Dennehy (2-6, 1-4 from frees), Zach McCarthy (1-1), Edmond Noonan, Phillip O’Sullivan, Darren Frewen (0-3, 1 from free)
