FIELD DEVELOPMENT PLANS
Glenroe GAA Development Project
New AstroTurf for Glenroe GAA
We are delighted to announce that our development has begun on our new Astroturf field, however we still need your support!
We have received an amazing €143,000 from Sports Capital and a further €70,000 from Tomar Trust to get our Project underway. We must now commence a massive fundraising campaign to raise in excess of €100,000. A number of events will be organised in 2022/2023 to ensure we reach our target. To commence our fundraising activities We are asking you to consider sponsoring a square of AstroTurf at a cost of €250. This square of AstroTurf can be sponsored by an individual or a family. We also ask that if you do wish to support our campaign that you do so through the Tax Relief Scheme. All what this will imply for you is the filling out of a form but the financial gains for our development project will be huge. Should you require any further information or have any questions and/or queries do not hesitate to contact a member of our Fundraising Committee (contact details attached). Forms for Tax Relief Scheme available from the club or any member of the fundraising committee. These forms were also distributed at our Launch Night in the Firgrove on Saturday last April 30th. You can also donate online through Swoofee on the Glenroe Social Media Pages.
Glenroe Junior B’s fall short in the County League Final
Glenroe Junior B’s amazing league campaign just fell short in the Final against Feenagh/Kilmeedy on June 20th in Martinstown. The game was a very tough contest from the get go with the teams trading point in the early exchanges. Feenagh/Kilmeedy drew the first blow in the 14th minute with a well worked goal but Glenroe still kept with them keeping tight with only two points between the teams midway through the first half. Both teams traded goals before half time with Maurice O’ Brien converting a penalty on the stroke of half time to complete a frantic first half of hurling that was very well contested. Half time scores Glenroe 1-8 Feenagh Kilmeedy 2-7. The second half kept up this pace with some very good scores including an eye catching performance from Bob Frewen in general play and some excellent free taking. The scores were level half way through the second half to set up an exciting finish to the game. Both teams were pushing to get an advantage at the end of the game, with game on a knife edge Feenagh/Kilmeedy just had a small bit more in the tank to pull away outscoring Glenroe by two points. An excellent game played in the right way finished with the scoreline Glenroe 1-16 Feenagh/Kilmeedy 2-15. Well done to the players and management for this amazing run that gave us so many great memories and a South Junior B League title for the second row in a year. Best of luck to both teams in the upcoming championship campaigns.
