The game started with the team playing it well down the field and the first three points scored by
Paul Brouder. Brendan Stack made a great run down the field, passing it to Michael John
Ambrose who put it over the bar. The backs were putting Kildimo under pressure, resulting in a
wide for them. It was coming close to the end of the first quarter when Scanlon came out of goals
down to the end of the pitch, kicked it in to Adrian O’ Sullivan who flicked it into the back of the
net. Great teamwork and passing was shown as Griffin’s kept possession for most of the first
half.
With some great play down the field again, the first point of the second quarter was scored by
John McCoy after Brouder made a run down towards him. With Griffin’s still in possession,
Adrian O’Sullivan scored 2 points in a row. Griffin’s were well in the lead heading into the
second half with a score of 1-07 to 1 point. Griffin’s won the ball immediately as Paul tipped the
ball to Jamie. Not long into the second half, Diarmuid Noonan got a goal. With a pass from
Paudie O’Connell, Adrian kicked the ball over to MJ who was in front of the goals and scored
another goal. In the final quarter of the game, Kildimo got a goal, Scanlon saved a second goal
and to finish off, MJ got another goal for Gerald Griffin’s.
Final score: Gerald Griffin’s 4-10 : Kildimo/Pallaskenry 1-04
This coming Tuesday June 29th, Gerald Griffin’s are playing Newcastle West in Newcastle at
7.30 pm.
Underage Game
Our U11’s started their campaign last Tuesday evening with 2 games against a very organised
and well-drilled Dromcollogher/Broadford team. Both games were a very tight and close affair.
We played some very attractive football at times and everyone gave there all and we had 2 very
tired teams at the end. We were unlucky to lose by the smallest of margins. We are looking
forward to our next match to sort this out. Well done to all our players on a great performance
again.
Best wishes
Gerald Griffin’s intermediate football team and management made a presentation to our hard
working and ever-present grounds man and great friend to all of us, Pat Scanlon, yesterday
evening prior to our All County Football League Game against Kildimo/Pallaskenry to mark his
retirement. Pat, along with the help of Neily, have been immense in the development of our club
over the last few years. We all wish Pat and his family the very best in his retirement. The
presentation was made to Pat by his son Brian, our club captain.
