Gerald Griffin’s played Bruff in the quarter final last Sunday in Newcastle West in what was very much a one-sided game. The team was winning ball from the outset and kept the ball down at their end for much of the beginning. At the end of the first quarter Gerald Griffin’s had 5 points, with Bruff having scored one. The second quarter started with a point from Adrian O’Sullivan immediately, followed by Bruff getting a point from a free. Paul Brouder got 2 points soon after and some good passing between Jamie and Dara lead to Dara putting it over the bar. Half-time score was 11 points to 3 points to Gerald Griffin’s.
Bruff won the ball at the beginning of the second half but Griffin’s had it back quickly and Paul Brouder passed it in to Adrian O’Sullivan who put it over the bar again. There were many more points scored in the second half and some good defense on our side too. Close to the end of the third quarter, great passing between Dara and Hugh led the ball up to Jim who passed it into Colm who scored a goal. The final quarter started with a great run up by Diarmuid who passed it into John McCoy who scored a point. Micheál Thornton came on before the last water break and scored 2 points before the end of the game. A great win for Gerald Griffin’s, we are looking forward to the semi-final next weekend. Keep an eye on our social media during the week for details.
