Senior Hurling League – Garryspillane 3-21 Glenroe 1-13
Played 12/06/21 in Knocklong
With silage harvesters silenced, cows milked early, all roads led to the hurling field. After many months of lock down of isolation & self-sacrifice the clash of the ash would resume. It involved the Bouncers & Glenroe, who had not met for some years in competition. Gerry Keogh & Pt Doyle had the surface in immaculate condition, the new score board greeted everybody as they came in, even the new entrance & fencing demonstrated that the committee has been working nonstop.
New chairman Frank O Carroll is keenly aware that he is only the 3rd Boss in 70 years and already is making his mark leading by example & everyone wishes him well.
As the match started it was immediately clear that both teams have done a lot of individual preparation. The Bouncers, a mixture of some of the well-seasoned players and now dominated by members of the successful minor team of 2018/19. It became abundantly clear even in the early stages that Glenroe had no answer to Dylan O Shea, Eoin Sheehan or Jim Bob, now the elder statesman at no 11 kept the ship on an even keel as the lads provided points from all angles.
It finished 3.21 to 1.13 in the Bouncers favour on a balmy evening when hurling was the real winner. Next match in Kilmallock this Saturday 19th June at 7.30pm v Kilmallock.
