GALTEE GAELS

Gaels Lose Out in Kilfinnane
Our senior team got their championship campaign off to a losing start last Friday evening when they met Adare in the opening group game.
Missing some players through injury, Gaels started brightly attacking the Adare defence but failed to put the any scores on the board despite all the good work. Adare on the other hand, were more efficient in front of goal and got into a 4-point lead after 8 mins. Conor Moriarty finally opened Gael’s account with a well taken point after 20 mins. After good build up play, we were awarded a free just before half time and a quick-thinking Bob Childs gave a short pass to Alan Condon who put the goal fairly in the back of the Adare net. However, the ref had different ideas and called the ball back for the free to be retaken, Bob converted and left the score at 6 points to 2 in favour of Adare.
Adare opened the scoring in the second half with two points and were not starting to get a further stronghold on the game. To their credit, Gaels kept going and were rewarded on the scoreboard, but Adare kicked on and popped over 3 points to leave the final score at Adare 0-13 to Galtee Gaels 0-6.
Focus now moves onto our next game against Ballysteen.
