GALTEE GAELS

Minor’s Win in O’Mahoney Park
Our minor team secured two points with a win against Belville Gaels on Monday night. Having received a walk over in their opening fixture, Gaels were eager to get onto the pitch after a number of training sessions over the last few weeks.
Played in perfect conditions, Zach McCarthy opened our account and this was quickly followed up by a second point from Zach. Belville Gaels worked their way into the game and registered two points from frees. The midfield battle was heating up but two points from Zach after hard work from Jack O’Callaghan gave Gaels the lead once again. Gaels continued to work hard and added onto the scoreboard to leave the half-time score six points to four points.
We opened our account in the second half with Zach once again on target with some excellent build up play from Jack O’Callaghan and Jack Ryan. A key moment in the game came when the in form Zack found the back of the net to extend our lead. Belville Gaels were keeping on touch by converting their frees but failing to score from open play. The hard working duo of Paddy and Conor started to exert their influence around the middle and were well supported by Jack Ryan at centre back. Keelan Hogan found the back of the net for our second goal to close out the game and we continued to finish strongly with points from Zach and Kealem Breedy.
It was a hardworking performance from the team and we look forward to the next day out. Well done to players and the managers Padraig McGrath and Conor Moriarty.

All-Ireland Champions
Well done to John Kiely and the Limerick hurlers on their excellent win against Kilkenny in the all-ireland final. It was a thrilling game and an amazing achievement for this special group.
Thanks must go to the committee meetings behind the scenes for organising tickets for club members. It was much appreciated.
