GALBALLY GAA CLUB NOTES
The Galbally Under 13 team played Caherconlish last week, losing narrowly by a single point, 4-4 to 3-6. Their next game is against Bruff on the 15th July at 7pm. The squad was: Paul Fenton, Cathal McGuire, Bill Crawford, Jack Reynolds, Jamie O Shea, Cian Harty, Philip Ryan, Adam Lonergan, Fionn O’Carroll, Ciaran Hyland, Fergal Mathewson, Shane McCarthy, Oran Sheedy.
The Junior Team were beaten by Mungret at Crescent Comprehensive College by 0-15 to 1-6. The team was Ger Ryan, Alex Finnan, Tony Henebry, Niall Kearney , Mike O’Dwyer, Tom Davern, Jack Hogan, Cathal Flynn (0-2), Billy Donoghue, Jonathan Scully, Jack Donovan (1-2), Jordan Dineen (0-2), Jamie Raggett, Fionn Flanagan, Jason Dineen. The Galbally Seniors played Pallasgreen in the County League and won by 6-11 to 3-7. The team was: Peter Morrissey, Ryan Tobin, Tom Davern, Cathal Flynn, Jack O’Mullane, Liam Casey, Ciaran Sheehan, Robert Sampson, John Kearns, Owensy Sheehan, Kieran Hickey, Josh Dineen, Ger Quinlan, Jamie Morrissey, Gary McCarthy. There are a number of Galbally players currently involved in County Squads. Under 20 Football: Peter Morrissey, Dylan O’Sullivan, Ciaran Sheehan. Minor Football: Owen O Sullivan, Cathal O’Mahony (Vice Captain) and Manager Kevin Denihan , Under 20 Hurling: Brian Heavey, Eoin O’Mahony, Minor Hurling: Paddy Kennedy. The Galbally and Ballylanders GAA clubs presented a cheque of €5000 to Pieta House recently resulting from a fundraiser in the Summer of 2020. A particular mention is due to Gary McCarthy for spearheading the Galbally side of this fundraiser, having been the main driving force behind it in Galbally GAA. Gary brings huge passion to the club and is a trojan worker who delivers silently behind the scenes, seeking no credit for his contributions.
