Galbally GAA would like to thank everyone sincerely for their generosity at the Church Gate Collection last weekend. Your support is appreciated. The Latest Split the Pot Winners were Nathan and Saoirse Wallace, daughters of Decky Wallace who were the lucky winners of €325. Next Draw is in Joe’s Abbey Bar on Saturday Night 21st September.

Galbally GAA will be recommencing the popular and thought provoking Last Man Standing competition on Saturday 28th September. Contact any club officer if interested in entering. Galbally GAA will also be running Lip-Sync later this year and if anyone is interested in participating, please contact any club officer.

A Galbally GAA development meeting took place last Wednesday night to explore possibilities in relation to the further development of the GAA Grounds. A number of possibilities were mooted and a long term proposal will be established, with a view towards building savings to put towards any work that goes ahead. There isn’t an appetite to go into debt, and the favoured approach is to complete work over a number of years, having raised the revenue in advance.

Some suggestions worth exploring include the extension of the Galbally Village Track around the GAA field, improving the existing floodlights on the training area near the river, along with developing the training surface for all conditions. There would be an appetite for a larger gym for the players in the dressingroom area. There was also discussion on a steel building structure at the river side for indoor training and for dual purpose use as a possible stand.

At present this represents a wish list for future development over a number of years and subject to advance fundraising over a long period. Ger Fahy has kindly offered his services to Galbally GAA in terms of design and planning of any project that does go ahead. If anyone has any further suggestions or ideas for future development, please contact Chairman Tom Quinlan.
