GALBALLY GAA CLUB NOTES

The Galbally Senior Footballers returned to championship action last Thursday night 25th July against Newcastlewest in Kilmallock. After a spirited game, 13-man Galbally were eventually beaten by 1-12 to 1-8 but the scoreline was not a reflection of the game. The team was Ger Ryan, Tom Davern, Tony Henebry, Eoin Halligan, Mark Quinlan (0-1), Liam Casey, Jacko Mullane, James Ryan, Colin Ryan, James Cummins, John Kearns, Mike Donovan (1-1), Gary McCarthy, Jack Donovan, Ger Quinlan (0-4). Subs: Cathal Shanahan, Kieran Hickey (0-2). Round 4 of the Championship will take place in Kilmallock on this Thursday August 1st at 7pm against Drom/Broadford.

Commiserations to John Kiely, Kieran Hickey and the Limerick setup on their defeat in Croke Park last weekend. It was a game with many talking points, and the reign as All Ireland Champions has come to an end. However, let it not be forgotten that John Kiely as manager has taken Limerick hurling out of the doldrums where they lost a number of successive early qualifier rounds, to a situation where they have won every honour in the game within 10 months. That record will stand up to all scrutiny forever more.

Well Done to Kevin Denihan (Manager), Cathal O’Mahony, Owen O Sullivan and Conor Finn who were involved with the Limerick Under 15 football team that beat Roscommon 3.9 to 1.9 at the GAA Centre of Excellence in Abbotstown.

The Latest Split the Pot Winner was Patsy Dalton who was the lucky winner of €300. Next Draw is in The Foxes Den Knockcarron on Saturday Night 3rd August
