GALBALLY GAA CLUB NOTES

Galbally GAA held a very successful blitz on Saturday 15th June. Thankfully the sun shone through and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A huge number of people have to be thanked to organise such a huge event. Firstly we would like to thank all the players that participated and all their coaches and parents. With over 50 boys teams and 16 girls teams, we are very grateful for your support and courtesy during the day. We would like to thank Galbally Community Council and Galbally RFC for the use of their facilities during the day. Thanks a Million. To the 16 referees who controlled the games, thanks very much. To those who lined and prepared the fields, ye did an excellent job, hugely appreciated. Thanks very much. Thanks to those who parked the cars and ensured that there were no traffic problems.

The day had a carnival atmosphere, greatly enhanced by the following: Liam Lynch Pipe Band, Ice-Cream van, chipper, sweet shop, teas and sandwiches, face painting, bouncy castles. A huge Thank You to everyone involved. Our grounds looked immaculate and all the rubbish was picked up during the day. To those who registered the teams and presented the medals (supplied by Quirkes Jewellers), Thank You. We would like to extend our thanks to the beautiful Hunters Rest in Mitchelstown for the sponsorship received. Thanks again Eileen and Robert.

I know we have not covered everything, but we are incredibly grateful to each and everyone as an event of this magnitude will not happen without huge support and the small but very hard working blitz committee. Thanks very much, it was a truly fantastic day. Galbally GAA Chairman

It was the end of the road for the Limerick Footballers and Mike Donovan as they lost the qualifier to Westmeath in Mullingar last Saturday. Best wishes to John Kiely and Kieran Hickey in the Munster Senior Hurling Final this weekend. Limerick bid to win the title for the first time since 2013 when John Kiely was a selector to John Allen. Best wishes to James Cummins ahead of his Limerick Under-20 game against Tipperary on Tuesday night next 2nd July.

The latest Split the Pot winner was Lar Henebry who was the lucky winner of €383. Next Draw Saturday 29th June in Joe’s Abbey Bar, Galbally.
