GALBALLY

Johnny Wallace RIP
On Monday June 6th 2022 a grey cloud covered Galbally as our village lost one of its greatest sons of all time. Johnny Wallace, a stalwart of our club gave everything to Galbally GAA during his time with us. Johnny played with his native Galbally and later managed and supported teams at every age level. Johnny played on the Minor football team that won the county final in 1966. Johnny has been involved in management of various teams over many years including the County winning teams at Senior football level in 1994 and 1997 and our Intermediate Football in 1990 2010. Johnny was a selector with Limerick Senior Footballers when they lost out to Kerry in the Munster football final of 1991 by 2 points. Johnny was always an avid supporter of Galbally and Limerick football teams. As well as that he was also heavily involved with Galbally Coursing club, Galbally Community council, our local playground fundraising group. Johnny was a great community man and he was loved by all. His celebratory jump on the sideline after every victory was a joy to watch.
The club extend our deepest condolences to Noeline and to all the family on their very sad loss. Johnny will be sorely missed by all. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h’anam dilís.

A massive congratulations to John Kiely, Kieran Hickey and all involved with the Limerick Senior hurling team on their outstanding performance and victory over Clare on Sunday. It is a Munster final that will be spoken about for decades to come. It was a historical victory for the Limerick men as they achieved 4 Munster titles in a row and they are also the first team to lift the Mick Makey cup.
