County U17 Championship
Fr. Caseys 2-14 Monaleen 2-08
Fr. Caseys U17 Footballers concluded their group stages last Wednesday evening with a top of the table clash against undefeated Monaleen. Both teams had qualified for the county semi-finals in advance but would be eager to keep momentum ahead of the knockout stages. Having lost to Mungret in round one the Abbeyfeale men have delivered some clinical performances and once more they rose to the challenge against their city counterparts. Emerging with a six point victory this result was the perfect tonic for the club having been eliminated from the U19 championship the previous night. Well done to all players and management and we wish them the best of luck in the upcoming semi-final with opponents, date and time to be confirmed.
County U19 Semi-Final
Fr. Caseys 0-05 St. Patricks 0-07
Last Tuesday evening Fr. Caseys U19 Footballers bowed out of the championship at the semi-final stages, going down to St. Patricks in Mick Neville Park by 0-07 to 0-05. In a very low scoring game it was a case that St. Patricks were the more clinical while Fr. Caseys struggled to find the target despite many opportunities. Given that this team lifted the deferred 2020 Minor title just three months ago, it is hard to be too critical of what has been a fantastic team. One bad night will not define this hard working bunch of players and we have no doubt that this group will give their all in the upcoming senior, junior and U21 championships, hopefully capturing more silverware before year end. Many thanks to all players and management for their efforts in this campaign.
