Minor County Semi-Final:
Fr. Caseys 0-12 Cappagh / Rathkeale 0-05
Fr. Caseys Minor Footballers responded in style last Tuesday evening when they had seven points to spare over Mungret in the County Semi-Final in Tournafulla. After a narrow one point victory over the same opponents at home in round one of the group stages they knew another tough task awaited them. Despite some mixed results in this year’s group stages our Minors delivered when needed and now book a Minor Final spot against Mungret in Mick Neville Park this Wednesday night. The final time score on the night was 0-12 to 0-05.
Having narrowly lost the County Minor title to Monaleen last year, ending the hopes of a historic six in a row and then later losing the U21 County title to Mungret after extra time, there will be little motivation needed for this group. In Danny McCarthy, Evan O’Connor and Leon Curtin they have three strong players that represented the club at county level this year as well as Liam O’Connor who was part of the Hurling team. Mungret is a club on the rise and there is no doubt they will come with a strong challenge. Hopefully there is another big day in this team and we wish them the very best of luck. We hope a large Abbeyfeale crowd will make the trip to Mick Neville on Wednesday evening (August 28th) to support the boys. The throw in time is 8pm.

Senior County Championship:
Fr. Caseys 1-15 Kildimo / Pallaskenry 1-05
Fr. Caseys Senior Footballers booked their place in the knockout stages of the county championship last Thursday with a commanding 1-15 to 1-05 victory over Kildimo / Pallaskenry in Coolyroe. Fr. Caseys began in blistering fashion and had 1-06 on the board before their opponents replied. The crucial goal coming after ten minutes from Oisin Woulfe after being setup by captain Daniel Daly. The points coming from Eliah Riordan, Rory O’Brien, Mark McCarthy and Eoghan O’Connell. In response to Kildimos only point of the half, the Abbeyfeale men replied with three more points before the break thanks to a brace from Adrian Enright and another point from Eliah Riordan. The half time score saw Fr. Caseys holding an impressive 1-09 to 0-01 lead.
Kildimo produced a much improved second half performance outscoring Fr. Caseys 1-04 to 0-06 but this did little to reduce the deficit. The Kildimo goal coming very late in the half from the penalty spot. After an opening day defeat to Newcastle West our Seniors have now recorded three wins in a row and while top spot in the group looks destined for Newcastle West, the battle for second and third place will be decided in round five when Fr. Caseys take on Galtee Gaels in mid-September. The team is moving in the right direction and qualification with a game to spare is credit to the hard work Shane Kelly is doing with the team. The full time score was Fr. Caseys 1-15 Kildimo / Pallaskenry 1-05.

Junior A County Championship:
Fr. Caseys 0-10 Ballybrown 1-05

Fr. Caseys Junior A Footballers recorded their second win of the campaign last Friday evening with a hard fought two point victory over Ballybrown. Trailing by one point entering the last quarter, our Juniors again finished in strong fashion to keep their hopes of qualification alive. A victory over Cappamore in round five in mid-September should now be enough for a quarter final place. Well done to Joseph Flaherty and John Boyle who managed this team with Keith Hartnett leading the line as team captain.
