Senior County League Semi-Final:
Fr. Caseys 3-10 Mungret 0-10
Having narrowly lost the West Final to Newcastle West, Fr. Caseys were eager to bounce back to winning ways when they took on an in-form Mungret side last Saturday evening in the Bog Garden. Fr. Caseys made the perfect start converting 1-02 inside the opening ten minutes before Mungret registered a point from a placed ball. Three more points from play extended the lead to seven points before Mungret kicked the last two points of the half to leave the Abbeyfeale men with a commanding 1-05 to 0-03 lead at the break
On the restart Mungret kicked three points without reply and we now had a game on our hands. A Fr. Caseys point from play was soon followed by their second goal of the evening and the lead was now six points. The teams exchanged points and the margin remained at six as we entered the final ten minutes. A third Fr. Caseys goal with five minutes remaining killed any hope Mungret had of a comeback. In the end Fr. Caseys had ten points to spare winning on a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-10.
Next up is a meeting with Newcastle West in the County League Final in a repeat of the West Final. Hopefully the result on this occasion will fall in our favour. Your support as always would be greatly appreciated
