Fr Casey’s GAA Club Notes:
Upcoming Fixtures:
County U21 Football Championship
Fr. Caseys Vs St. Kierans, Friday November 10th, time and venue to be confirmed
County Minor Football Final:
Fr. Caseys 2-06 Monaleen 1-11
Fr. Caseys Minor Footballers travelled to Rathkeale last Sunday morning looking to claim a remarkable feat of six County Titles in a row but standing in their way was a fancied Monaleen side who had defeated them twice already this year. Fr. Caseys needed a powerful start and buoyed by two well-taken first half goals they lead by five points at half time.
Leading 2-03 to 0-04 at half time they expected a second half onslaught and when Monaleen struck their first and only goal midway through the second period we had a nail biting contest in store. Credit to the Fr. Caseys men who maintained the lead until the final five minutes but a stronger Monaleen side on the day kicked the final three points without reply to snatch a narrow two-point victory. It was heartache for this young Fr. Caseys side, who had given their all throughout the year. Many of this team are underage again next year while those leaving Minor have the upcoming U21 championship to look forward to plus past Minor Honours to recall. Many thanks to all the players for their dedication throughout the year and the management team of Gerard O’Connor, Kevin O’Connor, John Francis Murphy, James O’Connell Humphrey Doody.
