Upcoming Fixtures:
County Senior Championship
Fr. Caseys Vs St. Kierans, Thursday August 24th in Newcastle West at 6.45pm

County Senior Championship
Fr. Caseys 1-14 Oola 1-07
Our Senior Footballers travelled to Clarina last Satuday evening to take on Oola in round three of the county championship. With one win from two games the margin of error was no limited while Oola with zero points registered were on their last chance. Fr. Caseys settled the quickest and lead by three points after ten minutes. Oola eventually found their shooting boots but Fr. Caseys never conceded their lead to head to the dressing rooms with a 0-08 to 0-04 half time lead. It was a lively and at times physical affair with the Abbeyfeale men holding a deserved advantage at the interval.
Oola reduced the margin with an early second half goal but Daniel Daly replied with a point instantly to kill any momentum. With the scores at 0-11 to 1-07 with ten minutes on the clock it looked like we were in for a grand stand finish but Fr. Caseys found an extra gear in the closing stages. A well-taken goal from David Ward gave them the daylight they needed with Oola failing to add to their tally. Three more points from Fr. Caseys gave them a seven-point cushion at the final whistle making the scoreline look appealing in what was a tough battle. Next up for Fr. Caseys is a meeting with St. Kierans on Thursday evening. Still needing at least one more victory from the two games remaining, another big performance is needed against the men from Ardagh who are in a similar predicament

County U19 Football Final
Fr. Caseys 1-08 Newcastle West 1-10
Our U19 Footballers travelled to Athea last Tuesday evening to take on local rivals Newcastle West in the County U19 Football Final. Newcastle opened the scoring but Ronan Quirke soon levelled in what was a tight and defence lead opening quarter. A pointed free and 45 put Newcastle back in front but Fr. Caseys replied with another Ronan Quirke score. With ten minutes to the break, Newcastle restored their two-point cushion but three points without reply put the Abbeyfeale men in front thanks to Liam O’Connor and a brace from Ronan Quirke. Newcastle claiming the final score of the half to leave the teams level at 0-05 each at the break.
A free from Ronan Quirke restored the lead early in the second half but two without reply soon had Newcastle back in front. Another Ronan Quirke free levelled the game with scores at a premium. With fifteen minutes remaining Fr. Caseys struck what seemed a hammer blow. Oisin Woulfe with a perfect pass to Marc Nolan who rattled the net. Finally some daylight and the hope was they could now kick on to the finishing line. But Newcastle West had other ideas, reducing the margin to two points and then striking a goal of their own to regain the lead. Two more Newcastle West points stretched the lead to three as we entered added time. Fr. Caseys pushed hard for an equaliser but could only add one more point from Michael Kilbridge. Despite a gallant effort, this was not to be our night and Newcastle West ran out deserved winners with two points to spare. The full time score was Fr. Caseys 1-08, Newcastle West 1-10
