West Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys 6-10 St. Kierans 2-14
Entering their final group game last Tuesday night with three wins, a draw and two loses to their name, Fr. Caseys needed to capture maximum points at home to St. Kierans to reach the knockout stages. Their opponents already had qualification guaranteed but were looking for victory to top the group. The large crowd that attended in near perfect conditions were treated to a high scoring encounter with eight goals converted on the night. David Ward rolling back the years to convert three of those goal chances was one of the highlights but the newcomers to our panel have also to be commended for their energy and work rate. In the end, Fr. Caseys had eight points to spare after a very impressive performance. Their reward for victory is a semi-final encounter away to St. Kierans with the winner facing county champions Newcastle West in the West League Final. An interesting week of football awaits for the club and we wish all involved the best of luck when they travel to Coolcappa on Wendesday evening, May 31st with a 7.30pm throw in
