Fr Casey’s GAA Club Notes:
Upcoming Fixtures:
West Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys vs St. Kierans – Tuesday May 23rd in Abbeyfeale at 7.30pm
West Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys 1-19 Adare 2-10
Fr. Caseys hosted county finalists Adare last Tuesday evening. In a very lively opening half, it was Fr. Caseys who took a two-point lead to the half time break. With John Riordan and Tommy O’Keeffe as the elder statesmen and the remainder of the team residing in their early twenties, there was no lack of experience on display as Fr. Caseys stretched the margin with an early second half Adam Riordan goal and maintained that cushion until the end. The large crowd in attendance were treated to a well-deserved six point victory and hope of greater days ahead.
West Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys 1-11 Ballysteen 2-08
Fr. Caseys Senior Footballers travelled to Ballysteen last Saturday to take on the home side. Boosted by a very positive performance against Adare on Tuesday evening, Fr. Caseys travelled in confidence but came up against a very strong home side that matched them score for score and in the end both teams shared the spoils. This draw leaves Fr. Caseys needing victory in their final league game against St. Kierans to progress to the knockout stages. Hopefully they will again be treated to a large home support for this game on May 23rdand claim the needed win to qualify for the West Semi-Finals.
Limerick GAA
Well done to the Limerick Senior Footballers including Adrian and Fiachra who continued on winning ways in theTailteann Cup with a convincing 1-19 to 0-14 victory away to Carlow last Saturday evening. The team have now qualified for the quarter final stages with a game to spare. They will face Wicklow in a neutral venue on June 3rd in their final game
Unfortunately the Limerick Minor Footballers had no success last Thursday evening when they suffered defeat at home to Kerry in the Munster Semi-Final. Well done to club players Cathal Woulfe, Adam Murphy and Ronan O’Connell for their efforts all year.
Best of luck to Seamus Lenihan and Maurice O’Connor who line out for the Limerick Masters Football team this Saturday May 27th in round two of the All Ireland Series. They will be looking to build on a well-deserved victory over Waterford in round one but will face a fancied Kerry outfit who reached last year’s semi-finals. The throw in time in Raheenagh is 2pm.
