Fr Casey’s GAA Club Notes:

Upcoming Fixtures:
West Intermediate Football League
Fr. Caseys vs Cappagh – Thursday May 11th in Abbeyfeale at 7.30pm

West Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys vs Adare – Tuesday May 16th in Abbeyfeale at 7.30pm

West Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys 0-13 St. Senans 0-08
With just two points on the board from three games, Fr. Caseys travelled to Foynes last Saturday looking for a reaction against a St. Senans side that have been riding high in the Intermediate ranks in recent years and knocking on the door of Senior. Without setting the scoreboard alight, Fr. Caseys delivered another positive performance here, controlling proceedings throughout and were full value for their five point winning margin. Hopefully with exams over and the summer approaching the team can strengthen and with three more league games against Adare, Ballysteen and St. Kierans approaching there is still a solid opportunity of making the knockout stages.

West Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys 1-09 Newcastle West 0-13
With a slightly weakened side due to exam commitments and injuries we made the short trip to neignbours Newcastle West last Tuesday evening for round three of the West Senior League. In a tight first half we trailed by 0-08 to 0-06 at the half time break. A second half goal from Fr. Caseys gave the Abbeyfeale men sight of victory but the county champions held on for a slender one point victory. With neither team at full strength it wont teach much but the work rate from those present is positive going forward.

Limerick GAA:
Best of luck to the Limerick Minor Footballers who play Tipperary in the round robin final this Thursday evening in Mallow at 7pm. Both teams will progress to the Munster semi-finals regales of the result albeit with an easier route for the victors. The club are delighted to be represented by Cathal Woulfe, Adam Murphy and Ronan O’Connell with John Murphy as selector.

Best of luck also to Adrian Enright, Fiachra Cotter and the Limerick Senior Footballers who start their Tailteann Cup campaign this Saturday playing Longford in the Gaelic Grounds at 4.45pm. In round 2 they will face Carlow away before and final group game against Wicklow in a neutral venue. The top three in the group will then qualify for the knockout stages.

Well done to Seamus Lenihan and Maurice O’Connor who started their All Ireland Masters Football campaign with a 3-08 to 1-11 win away to Waterford last Saturday. Next up is a home tie against Kerry in Raheenagh on May 27th, followed by another home game to Laois on June 10th in Kilteely.
