Intermediate Hurling Championship

Last Saturday evening Feohanagh started their campaign in the Intermediate Hurling Championship when they played Tournafulla in Dromcollogher. This was a must win game for Tournafulla as they lost their first match and a win for Feohanagh would give them a place in the County Quarter Finals. In front of a small crowd of people due to the Covid restrictions Feohanagh got off to a flying start with 2 points from Seamus Flanagan and 1-1 from Kieran Guina. The back line were very sturdy and worked hard to keep the Tournafulla forwards at bay. A point from Michael Fitzgibbon, Alan Roche and Sean Flanagan and another 5 points from Seamus Flanagan gave Feohanagh a good lead at half time with a scoreline of 1.11 – 4 points. Even though Tournafulla had no answer for the Feohanagh men they fought back well in the first 15 minutes of the second half, closing the gap but a goal and 2 points from Seamus Flanagan gave the Feohanagh men the advantage again. Even though Tournafulla upped their attack Feohanagh worked hard all over the field and a super goal from Michael Fitzgibbon gave them the confidence to push on. Points from Seamus Flanagan, John McEnery and Sean Flanagan finished the game with a scoreline of Feohanagh 3-18 Tournafulla 2-13. The Feohanagh team worked well in all areas of the field and it was a great team victory. They will now play Pallasgreen in Clarina in the next round on Saturday 8th August at 7pm.
