DROMIN/ATHLACCA GAA CLUB NOTES
Last Saturday evening our Premier Intermediate Hurlers met with Knockainey in Bruff. This was
a must win match for our hurlers in order to avoid a relegation contest. With a 4 point to no
score lead within the opening ten minutes, it was an ideal start. Unfortunately, that was the only
time we were ahead for the game. At half time we trailed 1-13 to 0-9. A s[pirited second half
fightback led by a David Breens goal elevated momentum and when the scoreboard showed
the smallest of margins, it looked like things would go our way. Two points for Knockainey in the
dying minutes meant it was out of reach. Final score on the night Dromin Athlacca 1.18
Knockainey 1.20. Confirmation of the next fixture a relegation final against our near neighbours

Our Minor hurling team played the first round of their championship last weekend when they
hosted Mungret on Friday evening. They got their championship campaign off the a flyimg start
with a great win with a final score line of 1-21 to 3-10. Congrats to players and mentors.
Fixtures: A full range of underage fixtures continue during the week. Updates will be on
Dromin Athlacca GAA Facebook and Instragam pages. We would like to thank each mentor,
player and parent who have put in tremendous work in adhering to Covid 19 guidelines and
ensuring the safety of our club. Please remember to confirm health status before each training
session and match which can be done on www.returntoplay.ie. Also that each player has a
personal water bottle as per guidelines.
Club Lotto is back! Jackpot this week was 7,150e.Numbers drawn were 6, 8, 23,30. No
winner. Lucky dip winners were Ger Kelleher 40e, Martin Sadlier 20e and Mary O Fox 20e.
Congratulations to all winners. Payment for upcoming Club Lotto Draws can now be made
online. 50e will enable you to join Club Lotto each week for 6 months. Email your numbers to

Next months Club Limerick Draw will take place on Saturday August 29th 2020. There is
e10,000 up for grabs along with many more cash prizes. 50% of all membership goes directly
to our own club. This provides our club with the financial support to fund the day to day running
costs. The Star Prize for August will be a Luxurious Two Ball Round of Golf including 2 caddies
in Adare Manor. Joining this draw can be easily done either online at

through our club by contacting our coordinators Ann Breen of Athlacca, Michael Carmody of
Rathcannon, Morgan Walsh of Athlacca and John Murphy of Dromin or by contacting any

A “ Cash for Clothes” fundraiser has been organised for the club. This will take place on
Saturday August 22nd. Clothes that are clean and in good condition, along with paired shoes
and runners, handbags and belts will be greatly appreciated. Donations of clothes will be
accepted in Athlacca Clubhouse at any training session. This is a great opportunity to find a
good home for all those items rediscovered during Lockdown. Thanks to those who have
donated so far.

their First Holy Communion and Confirmation this month.
