Pat Wall R.I.P
The death took place recently of Pat Wall formerly of the square Dromcollogher. Pat worked in the family run hardware business for many years. His love for hurling and the GAA was very evident from a young age and his success on the playing field came as no surprise.
Pat’s playing career spanned over a few decades where he won two County titles with his native Dromcollogher in 1959 and in 1963 as well as the famous Gold Watch tournament in Ballingarry in 1958 where Pat was brought on as a sub in the final minute of a game to take a seventy which he duly converted to put Dromcollogher on course to wining a very prestigious tournament. In the family hardware store they sold hurley’s where you would get first-hand knowledge of what you were buying when it came to hurley’s from Pat.
An outstanding goalkeeper of his time, Pat had a great eye for a ball and his long range puck out’s were very much part of his displays between the posts.
Pat was also a brilliant badminton player going on to win several tournaments and leagues with the local club in Dromcollogher.
Always a great GAA supporter Pat kept up with the happenings of the club during his time in Dublin. Pat will be sadly missed by his former playing colleagues and friends from the parish.
On behalf of Dromcollogher/Broadford Club we extend our sincere condolences to Pat’s family, relations and many friends.
