This was a very tight game played in Askeaton on Sunday afternoon with a Claughaun goal scored from a penalty in the first half was the key difference between the sides at end of the game.
Denis Donegan scored the first point of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford from play with Claughaun replying with a point from play to leave sides on level terms for the first time Derry McCarthy scored the next two pointed frees to send Dromcollogher/Broadford ahead with Claughaun equalizing with the next two points to leave the sides on level terms again. Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next two points from play via Paul Madigan and Derry McCarthy. Claughaun scored the next point of the game to leave a point between the sides.
Derry McCarthy scored the next pointed free of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to lead by two. The context of the match then changed with Claughaun scoring 1-2 of the game coming from a penalty after a sending off to leave a goal between the sides after 24 minutes.
Damien Burke scored the next point of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford just before the break to leave two points between at half time to leave at half-time Claughaun 1-6 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-7.
Claughaun scored the first two points of the second half to push their lead to four points. Keith Lacey responded with the next point of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave three points between the sides. Claughaun scored the point of the game to leave four points between the sides before Denis Donegan added a point from play to Dromcollogher/
Broadford to leave three points between the sides. Claughaun scored the next two points to leave five points between the sides. A fantastic rally despite being down a man was mounted by Dromcollogher/ Broadford as they scored next five points to leave sides back on level terms for the third time. Three of these scores coming from Derry McCarthy with other two
finished by Damien Burke and Keith Lacey. Claughaun responded strongly and gained the advantage again scoring the three points of the to leave a goal between the sides. A Keith Lacey sideline from an acute angle brought the margin back to two points. Claughaun scored
the next two points to lead by four points before Brian Aherne notched a point to leave three points between the sides at end of the game. A late attack from Dromcollogher/Broadford almost led to an equalizing goal but Claughaun held out to leave the score at full-time Claughaun 1-16 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-16.
The result leaves Dromcollogher/Broadford in fifth place in the group of six after one game and currently a point behind next weekend’s opponents Monagea.
