U20 A Football Championship Final (after extra-time)
Dromcollogher/Broadford 3-08 Galtee Gaels 1-13
This was a thriller of a County Final between two evenly match teams, with goals winning matches, played in very heavy conditions, on Sunday December 28th, in Kilmallock. At the break we lead by 2-3 to 0-4 with our goals coming from Rory O’Dell and Ryan Sheehan and two pointer from Tommy Ryan and then in the second half Galtee Gaels out scored us by 1-7 to 1-2 with our goal coming from Ryan Sheehan and Galtee Gaels goal came from Cian Ryan, with sides level the game went to extra-time and then in the first half of extra-time we out-scored Galtee Gales by two points to one with both our two points coming from Micheál Fahy both from frees and their point came from Conor McNarama and then in the second period of extra-time both teams scored a point with our point coming from Ryan Sheehan from a free and their point came from Conor McNamara also from a free. This was the first time since 1998 that we won this grade and the captain at time was: Tom McLoughlin. Congrats and Well done to the management team of Paddy Lordan, Cillian Fahy, Danny Corkery, Gareth Meaney and the backroom team of John O’Dell and Physio Bridget Downes and the panel of players led by joint captains Tommy Ryan and Micheal Fahy. This group of players won the hurling a few weeks earlier by defeated Caherline in the final on a scoreline of 4-14 to 1-16 and after the win today they completed the double.
Conor McNamara of Galtee Gaels scored the first point of the game and then Tommy Ryan of Dromcollogher- Broadford scored the only two pointer of the game to give us a lead of a point. Conor McNarama of Galtee Gaels replied with a point and then two goals for Dromcollogher- Broadford came from Rory O’Dell 14th minute and Ryan Sheehan 21st minute, Robbie Lynch was part of both attacks for the goals to give us a lead of seven points. Galtee Gaels replied with the last two points of the half coming from Conor McNarama and Cian Ryan to leave five points between the sides at the break. To leave the sides at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-3 to Galtee Gaels 0-4.
Conor McNamara of Galtee Gaels scored the next point of the leave four points between the sides and then Cian Ryan of Galtee Gaels scored a goal to leave a point between the sides with 38 minutes gone in the game. Robbie Lynch of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next point of the game to leave two points and then Ryan Sheehan of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored his second goal of the game after John Lenihan’s point attempt drop short and Sheehan reacted quickest for second goal of the game with 41 minutes gone in the game to put five points between the sides. Robbie Lynch of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next point of the game to give us a lead of six points and then Galtee Gaels scored the next six points to bring sides back on level terms and send to the game to extra-time with five points coming from Conor McNarama and the other point came from Sean Gallahue. To leave the score at full-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 3-5 to Galtee Gaels 1-11.
Micheál Fahy scored the first two frees in the first half of extra-time to give us a lead by two points and then Conor McNarama scored the next point for Galtee Gales to put a point between the sides at end of the first half of extra-time. To leave the score at half-time during extra-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 3-07 to Galtee Gaels 1-12. Then in the second half of extra-time both sides scored pointed frees with the first coming from Dromcollogher/ Broadford came from Ryan Sheehan to leave two points between the sides and then Conor McNarama of Galtee Gaels scored the last point of the game to leave a point between the sides end of the game to complete the double in both hurling and Football at this grade for the year. U20 A Football Championship Semi-Final
Dromcollogher/Broadford 1-13 Shannon Gaels/Athea 0-12
This game was played on Saturday December 20th, in UL North Campus, in the Artificial grass. This was a game of two halves with Shannon Gaels/ Athea leading by at the break by 0-7 to 0-4 and then is the second half we outscored Shannon Gaels/ Athea by 1-09 to 0-5 and our goal came from Ronan O’Sullivan and a two pointer coming from Micheál Fahy to give us victory and book our place in the final against Galtee Gales, which was played on Sunday last December 28th, in Kilmallock, at 1pm (with extra-time and penalties if necessary), Referee: Jonathan Hayes (St. Senans).
Micheál Fahy of Dromcollogher/Broadford scored the first pointed free of the game and then Shannon Gales/ Athea scored the next three points of the game to lead by 2 points with one coming from a free and the other two points from play. Ronan O’Sullivan of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next point of the game to leave a point between the sides and then Shannon Gaels/ Athea scored the next point of the game to leave two points between the sides. Ronan O’Sullivan of Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave a point between the sides and then Shannon Gaels scored the next three points to leave four points between the sides all coming from play.
