DROMCOLLOGHER/BROADFORD

Result:
West Intermediate Hurling League Round 4
Dromcollogher/Broadford 1-11
St. Kieran’s 0-12
On Saturday evening in Dromcollogher our Junior A side hosted St. Kieran’s in round 4 of the West Intermediate League. A win was required, and the team delivered a strong second half showing to gain both points on offer. St. Kieran’s controlled the first half and were probably worth more than their 4 points half time lead with them holding most of the possession. A really good save from Glen McNamara kept our goal intact and scores from Damien Burke, Thomas Fitzgerald and Brian Stack kept us in touch at 8 points to 4 when the half time whistle blew.
A strong start to the second half was rewarded by added point from Damian and Thomas before a booming free from Derry McCarthy got us within three. This was followed by Brian Stack latching onto good work from Michael O’Sullivan and Kenny Lynch to rocket a strike to the back of the net and level the game. Good play was starting to pay as we forced frees from the opposition with another long-range effort from McCarthy and 3 added frees from Thomas Fitzgerald combined with some excellent defending meant that Dromcollogher/Broadford held on for a welcome win which leaves us on 4 points with one round remaining.
