CROOM GAA CLUB NOTES

Intermediate Hurling:
We have our first competitive match of the year this Saturday when we play Effin in the South Championship in Ballyagran at 4pm. The squad have been training hard under the guidance of coach Tomás Moloney for the last few weeks and have had plenty of challenge matches despite the inclement weather. This is all in preparation for the first round of the county championship v Na Piarsigh on Easter weekend. We are gradually building and players are getting opportunities. Please come along to the match and support the team this weekend.

Junior Football:
Last Saturday we had our first match of the year and we played Ahane at home in the county league. We started with the aid of a strong breeze and used it to good effect pinning Ahane back and putting pressure on their kick outs. Using the breeze the lads took their shots when they could and we went in at half time up by 10 points to 1. All subs got on at half time and we did well to keep possession and work our way up the field against the wind. Our only fault was shot selection as we needed to get it in closer before taking the shot. Nonetheless we continued to control the game and ran out winners on a scoreline of 14 points to 3. Our next match is in the county league again on Saturday March 21st at home v Cappagh at 3pm.
