Our intermediate footballers suffered a disappointing 1-10 to 0-9 defeat to St Patrick’s in the intermediate football championship relegation semi final last Sunday evening. The opening quarter was a tight and tense affair with points exchanged between the two sides with a Richard Murphy free and Karl Moloney effort making 0-2 apiece at the first water break. The second quarter of the game belonged to Pats however as they outscored us 1-5 to 0-0, the crucial goal coming just on the stroke of half time. We began to eat into the deficit in the second half with Richard Murphy frees and a fine Cormac Flanagan effort but the city side were always able to keep us at arm’s length as it finished 1-10 to 0-9. Team: Rob Sweeney; Cian Leahy, Tim Moloney, Pa Dolphin; Evan Moloney, Sean Fitzgerald, Mark Shanahan; Cormac Flanagan (0-1), Karl Moloney (0-1); Sam Riordan, Richard Murphy (0-7f), Darach Skelly; Shane O’Connell, Mike McCormack, Gary O’Connell.
