Match Report – Junior Hurlers:
Crecora Manister 2-14 ABK 1-17
We lined out in the 4th round of Premier Junior Hurling championship in Sean Finn Park Rathkeale against Askeaton Ballysteen Kilcornan on Friday 29th. As the game started, we had the advantage of a stiff breeze which blew towards the road goal. We were quick out of the blocks and the first score came from a Cathal O’Neill free. We added points with couple for Edwin Wixted and a couple of frees and this added to a goal where Richard Murphy sidestepped the keeper to put the ball in the next. This put us in a commanding position at the mid-point of the first half. Chris Shanahan, Padraig Byrnes and Cathal added to our total and we held an 8 point lead as it approached half-time. However, ABK finished the half strongly and struck for a goal and the lead was back to 4 points at half time. We started the second half facing the elements. We conceded a number of frees which enabled ABK to level the scores early in the second half. Another point from Padraig helped us to regain the lead and Padraig struck for our second goal which was added to by a free from Cathal to extend our lead again. ABK then hit a succession of scores to level the game with 10 mins to play and it was all to play for now with every ball been keenly contested. The teams exchanged points and we had a goal chance but the keeper made a fine save. ABK added a couple of points as the end of normal time approached. The team fought hard to stay in the game and won 2 frees which Cathal converted to level the game. There was still time for one chance but the ball drifted wide and the game ended in a draw. There is 1 more round to go and it is all to play for in this competitive group. Squad Ger Kennedy, Rory Hannan, Colm Parnell, Tim Moloney, Thomas Shanahan, Cathal O’Neill, James Conheady, Conor Kirby Mark Shanahan, Jack Dalton, Edwin Wixted, Richard Murphy, Padraig Byrnes, Rian O’Byrne, Sean Keyes, David Rickard, Ned O’Meara, Oisin O’Byrne, Ciaran Cusack.

U10 Hurling Blitz:
Our U10 footballers hosted a blitz last Friday evening, 29th Aug. Na Piarsaigh, Granagh Ballingarry and Feenagh Kilmeedy were all in attendance with some very competitive games on display. The boys are in action against Cappamore next Friday evening. Well done to all coaches and players involved.

Portable Goals – Note from Our Chairman:
All, can I remind all coaches of our responsibilities around the portable goals.
We have a safety & insurance responsibility to put the goals away after use to protect people from injury due to goal posts falling over. In addition to avoid damage to the robot mower we need to make sure goals are moved to their designated position at back left of the main pitch.
Please ensure this is adhered to at all times, if you cannot put away after a match please make contact with someone to make sure it is done as quickly as possible after matches. (note- the mover comes back out on field at 10pm each night).
Thanks for your cooperation on this matter.
