Crecora/Manister GAA Club Notes:

Death Notice:
This week we learnt of the sad passing of our club mate Colum Cronin. Colum has been the manager of our underage football teams for the last number of years. His passion and love of football was evident every time he coached our boys. His knowledge of the game coupled with a good natured and friendly approach got the best out of our young players. Our trip to Croke Park in April 2023 was one of the great sporting experiences we shared with Colum. We extend our sincere sympathies to his wife Rosemary and his two sons David & Stephen who are current U14 players with our club. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Intermediate League v Knockaderry:
The Adult hurling team were in action at our home venue on Saturday in the 3rd Round of the City West Intermediate League against Knockaderry. Before the game started there was a minute’s silence in memory of Colum Cronin. The game started at a fast pace in warm and breezy conditions. We conceded the first score but responded smartly with a well taken goal from Chris Shanahan. This was followed quickly by points from Brendan Power and Padraig Byrnes. Another from Brendan and points from Mark Shanahan and James Conheady helped us to lead as the first half progressed. James continued to add to our total but 3 goals in quick succession turned the game against us. We continued to press and 2 scores from Thomas Shanahan and Brendan helped to reduce the deficit at half time. We started well in the second half and game was score for score as half way point approached with points from Chris and a number from James. However, Knockaderry finished the stronger and ran out convincing winners in the end. Next game for the hurlers in at home to St Kierans on Sat 19th April at 6pm.

Limerick Mackey Cup:
Well done to Scott Fitzgearld who represented Crecora on the East team this week. They were unlucky to face a strong City side in the Mackey Cup Semi-Final who went on to win the overall Competition.
