CAHERLINE GAA CLUB NOTES
GAA LOTTO: No winner, numbers drawn were 11, 15, 27, 28. Lucky dip winners were Maggie Lyons, Agnes Ryan, Kathleen Mulready, Keith Ryan and Pat O’Mahoney. Next weeks jackpot will be €6,200 and the draw will be held on Friday night in Mulcahys Bar.
JUNIOR A HURLING: The scoreline from last Saturday night’s East Intermediate hurling semi final is a bit unfair on the lads, but we saw the differences between Junior & Premier Intermediate hurling too. Cappamore were that bit sharper in certain areas of the field and were ruthless in front of goal. Cappamore had a great start and were 1-04 to no score ahead after 8 minutes. A second goal for Cappamore 24 minutes in pushed them ahead even more, but points from Paudie Wixted (5), Kevin Wixted (2), Gary Murphy (1) & Brendan Hourigan (1) took us to half time only down by 4 points, 0-09 to 2-07. Cappamore rattled the net again in the 4th & 21st minutes of the second half, but we kept the scoreboard ticking over with some lovely points, to see us behind by just 6 points with 7 minutes left to play. Unfortunately, Cappamore got their 5th goal with 4 minutes left and the gap was too much to pull back, Cappamore taking the win 5-16 to 0-21. Next up for us is the last round of the East Junior A Championship, fixed for this coming Thursday evening v’s Cappamore in Kilteely, throw-in at 7:30pm, all support welcome. TEAM: M Moloney, T O’Keefe, P O’Keefe, E Balfry, D McNamara, G Murphy (0-02(1*f,1*65)), D Power, B Hourigan (0-02), A Power, K Wixted (0-02), P Wixted (0-13(10*f)), B Kennedy, E Nelligan, Jk Enright (0-01), Jk Carroll. SUBS: Js Enright (0-01), S Erasmus, D Murnane, N Tierney, J Heelan.
U-16 HURLING: Tough game on the road for us this last Thursday evening July 18th, against a very strong Ahane side, showing why they deserve to be top of the table. 2 goals in each half allowed Ahane to keep their noses well in front and try as we might, we weren’t able to pull it back. Full time score, Ahane: 4-16(28) Caherline 1-10(13). Next up for the lads is a home game against Ballybrown, fixed for Monday July 29th. TEAM: A Kearns, M Vaughan, J McElligott, P O’Dea, H Murnane (0-01), C McGrath, A McNamara, K O’Dea, J Carroll (0-04(3 from frees)), J McNamara, S Power, D Curtin (0-02), C Martin, A Hanley (1-03(1-02 from frees)), N Connaughton. SUBS: A Whelan, S McGrath.
