Club Lotto:
Blackrock GAA club lotto draw was held on Thursday night last November 27th.
The numbers drawn were 7, 11, 17 and 28. Jackpot of €2,200 was not won.

Defeat for U20 Hurlers in County Final:
On Sunday last in Mungret, Blackrock played Belville Gaels, a combination of Feohanagh-Castlemahon and Feenagh-Kilmeedy, in the County Under 20 ‘B’ hurling championship final, and after a very well contested decider played in very trying weather conditions with a cross field wind it was Belville Gaels that emerged winners on a score-0line of 1.16 to 2.11.
This was Blackrock’s third game in a week, playing amalgamation sides, Granagh/Ballingarry-Croom  (Quarter Final on Sunday last) Ballybricken/Bohermore-Fedamore, (Semi Final on Wednesday evening last) and Belville Gaels in the fina, l they had overcome another amalgamation side Glenquin Gaels (Killeedy, Monagea and Tournafulla) en route to the final.
Blackrock got off to a very good start, Shane Philpot opening the scoring with a point from play, the Gaels replied with point from play, before Blackrock had two pointed scored by Shane Philpot. A pointed 65 for Belville Gaels, after the Blackrock ‘keeper Evan Heffernan deflected a shot at goal out for the 65, followed by two points in quick succession from play for Belville Gaels put them ahead 0.04 to 0.03, both sides exchanged points, the Blackrock one from a Shane Philpot free. Blackrock kept up the pressure which was cleared putting Belville on the attack putting pressure on the Rockies defence which resulted with a point from play followed by a goal to go into a five point lead, once again both sides exchanged points, the Blackrock one from a Shane Philpot.free before the same player sent a penalty to the net after T. J Buckley had been fouled in possession, the final score of the half, a Blackrock point from Sean Dwyer reduced the deficit to the minimum at the interval  Belville Gaels 1.07  Blackrock 1.06.
On the resumption of play, Belville Gaels scores the opening three points, two from play to go four points clear. Midway into the second half, Blackrock won a long distance free which Shane Philpot dropped goal-wards and Sean Dwyer was alert and crashed the sliothar to the net for Blackrock’s second goal to level the scores. Belville Gaels were on top for a brief period, adding two points, on from a free, before missing a number of scoring chances. Shane Philpot reduced the deficit to the minimum from a pointed free, two points from Belville Gaels one from a 65 restored a three point lead before Shane Philpot was on target once again with a pointed free. Both sides exchanged a brace of points, Blackrock’s points which were the last two scores of the game came from free’s from Shane Philpot and Sean Dwyer to leave the final score Belville Gaels 1.16 Blackrock 2.11.

While last Sunday was not our day, it was indeed a great County Championship run by our players and management. Since mid October numerous training sessions were arranged for the upcoming Championship which eventually got underway on Sunday November 2nd.  From there on up to last Sunday there some notable displays and victories on the road to the County final. Well Done to all involved in what was very successful year. Not forgetting the supporters who turned up at the games during the championship in all weathers and at all times.
