U14 Hurlers in County Final on this Saturday:
All roads will lead to Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale on this Saturday where Blackrock Under 14 hurlers will play Garryspillane in Mr Binman Under 14 Hurling Division 3 championship final at 11am.
Blackrock came through Division 3A which commenced on Thursday May 22nd undefeated after six rounds, scoring wins over Kildimo/Pallaskenry, Garryspillane, South Liberties and Hospital/Herbertstown while receiving walk overs from Cappamore and Pallasgreen/ Kilteely/Dromkeen.

Junior Hurlers Bow Out of Championship:
On Tuesday evening last September 9th. Kilbreedy was the venue for the South Junior ‘B’ hurling championship semi final where Blackrock met Camogue Rovers. Two first goals while aided by the wind, gave the Rovers the upper hand in a very well contested opening half which saw the lead change hands on numerous occasions Camogue Rovers lead the interval by 2.07 to 0.11.
The second half saw Rovers stay on top playing against the wind adding seven points (three frees) while Blackrock replied with two pointes free (2.14 to 0.13), and were given a life line when they were awarded a penalty which was saved, Camogue Rovers added two furthers points, one from a free, while the Rockies had three points, two frees to closed the scoring which saw Camogue Rovers advance to the divisional final on score line. Camogue Rovers 2.16 Blackrock 0.16.

Lyons of Limerick County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 6:
Blackrock prove best to defeat neighbours Glenroe.
Neighbours Blackrock and Glenroe met in Knocklong in Lyons of Limerick County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 6 game on Saturday afternoon last, in what was a clash of the bottom two teams coming into the game, Blackrock on two points and Glenroe on three, both sides scored one win each over Bruff, while Glenroe divided the spoils with Effin, so it was a must win game for both sides, a Blackrock win would mean the relegation battle will go down to the wire next weekend while a win for Glenroe would secure their Premier Intermediate status for next year.
Having won the toss, Blackrock played with a strong wind in the opening half, and were quick to settle into the game, after twenty minutes play they led by 1.11 to 0.01, Sean O’Neill the Blackrock goal scorer after a well-executed build up, the points coming from Jimmy Quilty, (0.04 3f), Colm O’Keeffe (0.02 1f), Paudie Leahy (.0.01) Callan Ensor (.0.01) Shane Philpot (.0.01),Sean O’Neill,(0.01) and.Shane Lyons (0.01).while Glenroe scored a point from a free in the ninth minute.On the twenty second minute of play Jimmy Quilty blasted home a second Blackrock goal with a rasping shot into the left corner of the net, Glenroe replied their second pointed free , from the resulting puck out Sean O’Neill won possession and passed to Colm O’Keeffe who finished to the net for Blackrock’s third goal to give them a 3.11 to 0.02 advantage, both sides exchanged goals , Colm O’Keeffe pounced on a loose ball and shot to the net for his second goal, while Glenroe’s only goal,l after good passing movement, , two late points from Paudie Leahy, one from a free left the score at the half time break Blackrock 4.13 Glenroe 1.03.
On the resumption of play, the tempo of the game decreased as Glenroe were facing an uphill battle, eventhough aided by the wind, they added two points, one from a free, Paudie Leahy was on target scoring Blackrock’s fifth goal after fifty minutes of play when Ciaran Considine was fouled. Both sides exchanged points in the late minutes, Blackrock scorers were Ruairi O’Shaughnessy and Colm O’Keeffe leaving the full time score Blackrock 5.15 Glenroe 1.08. Following the results from the past weekend, Blackrock have moved from 8th to 5th. position on 4 points on score difference with Bruff and South Liberties also on 4points and Glenroe on 3 points.

U16 Hurlers lose out in County Championship:
On Sunday morning last September 14th. Croom was the venue for Mr Binman County Under 16 hurling championship division 3 quarter final, where Blackrock played Newcastle West. Both teams topped their respective groups in Division 3. It was the much stronger Newcastle West side that settled well with the aid of strong breeze and raced into 1.08 to 0.07 at the break. The Blackrock scorers Jack Roche (0.05 4f), Conor Nunan (0.02). In the second half Newcastle West continued to dominate and added 2.11 to their total, while Blackrock replied with (1.03) Darragh Drake the goal scorer, the points coming from Tommie Murphy (0.01) Jack Roche free and Conor Nunan. Team and scorers Alex Fitzgerald, Michael Hennessy, Adam Kelly, Jamie Beqiri, J. J. Another busy weekend of hurling championship games, On this Saturday September 20th. the Under 14 Hurlers will play Garryspillane in Mr Binman U14 hurling division 3 championship final in Mick Neville Park at 11am. Also this weekend round 7 Lyons of Limerick County premier Intermediate hurling championship will be played when Blackrock will play South Liberties, where a win for the locals is vital Date/Time/Venue tbc. The County minor ‘A’ hurling championship semi final game v Adare is yet to be fixed.
