All Ireland Champions Kilfinane Emmets 126 Years ago this Wednesday:
On Sunday November 20th. 1898 in Tipperary Town saw Kilfinane Emmets win Limerick’s first All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship title when they defeated Tulloroan (Kilkenny) by 3.04 to 2.04 in the 1897 decider Bonfires blazed on the Moat signalling to the countryside around Ballyhoura and deep into County Cork that Limerick represented by Kilfinane Emmets had won their first All Ireland Hurling title, played on Sunday 20th. November 1898, 126 Years ago.
