Lyons of Limerick County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 7
Blackrock 3.09 Newcastle West 0.17 played in Ballyagran.
Under 20 Hurlers defeated: 
Blackrock Under 20 Hurlers made the short journey on Wednesday evening October 2nd. to play neighbours Glenroe in County Under 20 A Hurling Championship Group 2 Round 3 game, which saw the home side emerge winners on a score-line of 5.14 to 2.12.   The opening half was evenly contested with Glenroe leading at the interval by 0.08 to 0.06.
The second half commenced with sides exchanging a point each from play, on the thirty fourth minute of  Glenroe scored two quick goals to take an eight point lead, Blackrock replied with three points, two from play before the home side scored their fourth goal to lead  by nine points 3.10 to 0.10. Glenroe added 2.04 to Blackrock’s 2.02 in the last quarter to score a well-earned win.
Intermediate Hurlers finish the Championship with a Win:
In Round 7 of the Lyons of Limerick County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship game played in Ballyagran on Saturday afternoonNewcastle West provided the opposition in what was the last outing for Blackrock who were out of championship contention coming into the game.
The game played in very difficult conditions with heavy rain,  playing against the rain and wind, Newcastle West were the early pacesetters and ran up a 0.09 lead after 25 minutes of play, both sides also missed a number of scoring chances in the first half, before David Moloney opened the Blackrock account with a well taken goal after 27 minutes of play, a Colm O’Keeffe pointed free saw Blackrock reduce the defict to 5 points as the half time whistle sounded. Newcastle West 0.09 Blackrock 1.01. On the restart Blackrock had an early goal from substitute Barry O’Shaughnessy, after David Moloney provided the pass. Newcastle West replied with point, while Blackrock hit back with 3 points from Colm O’Keeffe (2) frees and Ruairi O’Shaughnessy to have the sides level after 15 minutes of second half play. Both sides exchanged points, the Blackrock score coming from a Colm O’Keeffe free, before Newcastle West replied with 4 answered  points, (1free), it seemed at this stage that Newcastle West were in the driving seat but  Blackrock with points from Jimmy Quilty free and play and Richie McCarthy reduced the deficit to1 point, both sides exchanged points from play with time running out ,a Blackrock  free from Jimmy Quilty ended in the Newcastle West net after a deflection to put Blackrock ahead for the first time, the drama was to continue in injury time as Newcastle West were awarded a free which was pointed, the final whistle sounded as the puck out was taken, giving  Blackrock a well earned win 3.09 to 0.17 to bring the curtain down  on a very busy playing year, Well done to all involved, Players Management and loyal supporters.

Mr. Binman County Under 14 Hurling Division 3 Championship Final
Blackrock v Belville Gaels in Mick Neville Park, Time 11.30am.
On this Saturday October 12th. Blackrock under 14 hurlers will play Belville Gaels in the Mr. Binman County under 14 Hurling division 3 championship final in Mick Neville Park at 11.30am. The team have had a very good championship campaign winning all their seven round robin games including a walk-over to reach the Semi Final played on Saturday September 7th, where they scored a good win to qualify for the Final. To date the team have played 8, Won 8, Lost 0. For 34.100 (202) Against 5.33 (48)

Construction Work at Michael Fox Park:
Construction work at the Michael Fox Memorial commenced on Monday October 7th., the Main Pitch and the Walking Track will be out of action for as long as the work will take to complete. Sorry for the inconvenience.
